What are you doing with your spare cash/savings?

lost 100k + recently by being balls deep in meme and high growth stocks. however i have some spare cash that have been rotting in the bank. originally my plan was to DCA but fk that chit everything keeps taking a nose dive week after week. i am tempted to either buy som FAANG stocks or just put a big chunk of it into index funds. how are u investing?

I pulled my money out of the market knowing it would lose value to inflation, but no risk of absolute value loss.

I just thought about your question and realized where I would advise you, so I'm going to go ahead and do what I would tell you to do.

Thanks for making this thread.

This. Have a good chunk of my money in a few other things already, but I'm just cash for the rest right now. Kind of just waiting for any good opportunity.

Sits right in the bank doing nothing.

No risk involved and when I want it its right there.

i simple dont trust anyone with it as it was difficult to come by. If i los it in some investment I would have a tough time with that mentally.

Yeah, yeah, inflation and every year its worth less. Too bad, so are most peoples 401ks because they trusted other people do make their choices for them.

Been stackin cash since 2019. Starting to spend since I'm seeing prices drop on a few things. Will blow a chunk on a new car. LOL at financing at these interest rates. Been buying a ton of new tools and stuff for the house. Continuing DCA into indexes of course. Spending 33% of income on stocks for the year.

If housing market plummets I'll upgrade, but for now happy with what I have.

Planning on buying another property next year. Market made me really sad this morning. No wonder I keep telling myself not to log in to look at those accounts.

This is why 90% of people lose money in the markets...

It's all psychological...

You have to take risk to see profit a few years out..

That risk includes seeing your investments go down in the short term...

You just want instant gratification, hurr durr my stonks went up...

You have no long term strategy...

All the people chasing last year's highs are scared and stacking cash now just lmao..

You should have been scared last yr when there was an equities bubble and hoarded cash.

Now is the time to put your cash to work.

Hold for 1 yr and get long term capital gains taxes.

Cashed everything out about 2 months ago......currently sitting on all of it between my brokerage account and a few different savings accounts.

I have to tell myself every day that I do NOT need that new Corvette and my 2009 Truck is just fine....but other than that I'm just waiting till I feel comfortable to start buying back into the market.

As I watch my portfolio shrink, i'm sitting on cash and DCA only $500 / month until the sh*t show is over.

I alternate between VOO, SPY, SPYD and SPFIX .
