Because we are Russia’s mortal enemy and NATO includes most of Europe, who does care for obvious reasons. This war is perfect because it ****s Russia hardcore, tests out weapons systems against them, and weakens the **** out of them for a cheap price. It also looks great for PR and also gets Ukraine deep in debt to us through the lend lease act where they take out massive loans for our weapons. Basically after this war the country will be out debt slaves and out number 1 enemy will be weak as ****. It’s perfect.

In many cases what is right and just does not succeed and people can make that argument but in this case the stakes are so massively high that divine intervention is handing this one over to an eventual Ukraine win

Is it a fair comparison though? The U.S. losing preeminent mega cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia and its access to all of the Great Lakes would pretty much cut the GDP in half and the National population by a third. Is the region that Russia annexed as important to the Ukraine? Genuine question.

Those states aren't full of Canadian-speakers who spent the last 8 years getting bombed by the US government then overwhelmingly asked to join Canada.

Except 100 percent of Ukraine belonged to Russia a couple decades ago, and A LOT of Russians live there.

It would be more akin to giving Southern California and New Mexico back to Mexico. And they can have it!

There's a couple of reasons:

1. If Ukraine was more pro NATO/US, it would favor the EU and the US in terms of trade

2. US backed Ukraine and instigated this fight. And when the fight started, the US ran away. This kills the credibility and the prestiege of the US and NATO.

Though I think you could make the argument that Mexico has been invading the US via unchecked illegal immigration and resulting naturalization.
