Watched the Hellraiser remake(reboot?)

7.2/10


It could've been a great movie if it weren't for the bad acting & character roles; of course they had to make 2 of them flaming homos complete with sex scene

The lead character acted well but her character was written to be an annoying junkie


After the first 20 minutes it picks up quick & gets hugely spooky; in some ways even better than the originals

Very dark tone w/ great camera work, lighting, special effects


When the "cenobites"(demons) come around corners out of the shadows I legit felt panicked, lots of suspenseful scenes that make you go "FUARKKKK RUN"

I do wish they touched on the Leviathan lore more, only in the third act do you get any sort of explanation; they focused on the character relationships too much



Hopefully they do so in the sequel

It was OK, a solid B-level flick. I had heard a lot of talk about Pinhead's gender before I watched, but the female Cenobites were well-done. They could have ditched the gay-sex scenes though

The one time I don't mind it, the cenobites are meant to be gender-less demons which is why their genitals are removed when the Leviathan creates them

The female appearing Pinhead is less imposing in this for sure, it could've used it's chains to grab the protagonists at pretty much anytime so I was a little confused why some events were allowed to unfold

Was better than i expected to be honest

None of the characters were likable and i actually found myself cheering against them (maybe that was intended?)

But i've always liked the gore from the hellraiser movies, overall it was pretty decent

That and they refuse to give a heterosexual dude a main role. It always has to be non white female. Bonus points if they bang the same gender. If the main character is a straight white male they have to turn the gay/gender dial to an 11/10 for all the supporting roles or remind the male lead that he can be replaced and his opinion means very little. The only white dudes that can get away with being leads are the mega super star types whom are now getting much older and will slowly go away entirely. People used to go to the movies to see a specific superstar in a said role but that barely exists now.

That's actually a good point about contemporary films; 99% of them I can't tolerate anymore, the agenda is obvious

Horror being the GOAT'd genre allows one to bypass such degeneracy with sheer creativity
