Watched Halloween 1978 for the first time..

In 4K w/ full Dolby audio & color correction

Brand new movie hearing & seeing all of it clear as day; best musical score ever srs



What a masterpiece of cinematography, movie had almost no budget yet every shot was flawless w/ 10/10 direction

Can never watch the TV version again srs

Yeah.

In terms of techniques and such, there's been plenty of film studying and application to surpass it. In technique.

But.

For one, back then, the Slasher genre was still pretty new.

Prime Jamie Lee Curtis was ReallyHigh/10.

The cinematography and taking advantage of early Autumn gave it a verisimilitude that will help the film, no matter the genre.

Looking back at it as a 'seminal' and now classic progenitor of a genre, taking all the above, and more, into account, it's easy to see why it was such a hit and really opened the door for much more.

Agreed, it's one of my all time favorites. I love the halloween franchise and I take all the highs with the lows, which there were plenty. Halloween 2018 was my second favorite just behind 1978. Halloween kills was watchable but there was bad dialogue and questionable decisions, but ultimately Michael was brutal and it has a small town halloween feel. Then my wife and I and some friends watched halloween ends. It may be the worst in the franchise. What an utter disappointment wrapping up 44 years on that **** note.

Its amazing how Halloween 1978 literally gave you a blueprint to make a great horror film. Keep it simple, slow build up, tense atmosphere, creepy scenes like Michael staring outside the house, and a good musical score to top it all off.

That is all you need. But no, hollywood cannot keep itself from overcomplicating ****. The new Halloween trilogy has this guy causing a character to shoot herself for in the head by kicking a car door shut on her. Wut?

I got the Halloween 2018 & Kills sequel to go with it

Not going to buy Ends, hated that movie it's easily the worst in the entire franchise

That was Halloween: Kills, one of the dumbest scenes ever; like something Rob Zombie would've done

Have you ever watched black christmas? Allegedly its the movie that gave carpenter the idea for halloween.

Both are great but i prefer black christmas.

They spent almost their entire budget in the first two movies on the animatronic doll and paying people to control it

With what little they had left over they still made masterpieces with the first two movies

Carpenter mogs. Dude directs and writes the music, on top of having the best horror / sci-fi filmography of any of them. Would put him against any other director.

Halloween is an all-time classic. Love how Michael lurks in almost every shot, stalking from the background. You should check out "Black Christmas" if you haven't, honestly it was just as much a predecessor of Halloween as Psycho.

When I was in Canada, that movie was definitely talked about. Certain segments within Canada are proud of that movie.

But what comes after a Black Christmas? A Black New Year? Or if on an emotional rollercoaster, is it a White New Year? Or a Red New Year?

I didn't mind Halloween ends. IMO the Worst was Halloween 4. Halloween 3 made no sense either...not sure why they didn't keep Michael going and had to throw in that BS. I really enjoyed Rob Zombies renditions as well.
