How TF does this happen...Went from 215 on bench to barely 205 in 2 WEEKS

Did a workout beginning of Oct.

3 sets of 215lb bench press

1 set of 4, 1 set of 4, 1 set of 3

---

Started BJJ

Had some serious sore shoulders from it.

Literally had a hard time lifting at all so took 2 weeks off until soreness subsided.

Go back to gym, (haven't changed diet)

Go to bench and can BARELY get 205 for 3 reps first set

---

ONLY thing I can think of is I WAS loading up on creatine for a week prior to hitting 215 on bench, but then I got flaky on taking creatine everyday

could be part of it

and also taking 2 weeks off probably didn't help a ton.I

I will be trying to get it back up so hopefully I'll be back to where I was soon...

Diet and time off is probably the main factors on why you lost the weight on the bench op
If you can hit heavy DBs theres gonna be some caryover to barbell.

No one incline DB pressing 120s is gonna struggle to flat barbell bench 225

225 flat is light af.

i have a few at my gym and yes they are small. Wouldnt say its a common sight, but it happens. But a grown man should be hittin that for atleast a couple reps in under a year of lifting

I personally can't take too much time off benching or performance will drop. Can still rep out 225 for 8 but when I was benching 3x a week I got up to 3x12 @ 225 and 1rm 305.

I must be the same...more frequency on bench, I lift more...in fact it's also like that for squats with me

Are you retarded?

That's also a pretty minor fluctuation. Just get consistent again, don't rush, and you'll be there again in no time.

Your shoulders could be exhausted from BJJ and not helping as much during the lift

I'm not sure how giving BJJ's would effect bench weight.

You took time off, what do you expect?

If you started being consistent again, in two weeks you'd be back to where you where and possibly even stronger.

Yeah, uh, that's not a big deal bro. You can drop a little in an exercise, particularly one untrained like your fairly small bench...

1) Bad sleep
2) Overtraining
3) Poor nutrition
4) Jerking off too much
5) Just an off day
6) Laughing too much at Fetterman
7) Laughing too little at Fetterman
8) etc, etc...

Don't worry. Get some sleep. Eat a little bigger for a couple days. Hit it hard next time. Oh and time off? How'd I miss that. That'll do it too, again, especially with a fairly untrained movement like your small bench.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Normal, you should be back on your pb on the next workout. Its not like you have to grind for 2 months.
I had 9 days off recently & lost 25lbs on my big lifts. Ate like chit but with proper food intake & good sleep probably wouldve still lost like 10lbs.

Even a bad night of sleep knocks out 10lbs easy.

Lets go back to when I was 15 and was benching 225 easily, like any man should be able to do.

I bragged to some friends I could bench that much and they bet me I couldn't, so I invited them to my house to prove it. A few days later when they could come over also just happened to be just after the first day of wrestling practice of the year.

I couldn't lift it. I brought shame to my family much like you have.

How long have you been lifting (srs)? I've been lifting for 25 years and some days/weeks you just dont have it.

There are some days I can throw up a certain weight and other days its all I can do to lift it..

Half the time the difference in days makes no sense. Some days your body is like - NOPE.

Btw, kind of paying more attention -- I think clearly the issue here is the BJJ training. One, it twinked your shoulder. Not only did you take time off, but who is to say if they didn't really hit 100% even with the time off. So, here - both the time off and the potential for some minor injury are at play.

More importantly, without gear (and honestly to a lesser degree even with), the human body is only going to adapt in one direction at a time. You can't train to run a marathon and for a power lifting meet at the same time. If you do, you'll get better at running and probably burn out with the power lifting, making little progress there if not falling backwards. Endurance training, if you do enough of it, it's always going to eat heavily into gains elsewhere in size and strength.

BJJ training is intense and it's going to wear down your CNS and get in the way of strength gains. I think it's great, not saying don't do it, but you might need to figure out your outside training a little and work around it somewhat.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
