No, I'm not saying physically fit people are oppressed or something crazy like that, just take a gander at these charts.

By the 1990s, people who were not overweight, obese, or extremely obese have made up less than 50% of the population.
What does this mean for the future of the USA? Is this compromising our military? How can we address this problem as a society?
Is it really that great being a fit minority when we consider the collective health and future of our society?
Please share your thoughts and discuss.

So 22% of adult females are at either a healthy weight or underweight. I'm sure males are similar. Feels good being an exclusive attractive exotic minority in that sense.
I used to be overweight, probably obese at times, from ages like 10-16. It was all that I could ever think about during the time. I hated how I looked. I wore t-shirts in the pool / beach. I had love handles, man-boobs, wore 34-36" waist pants. I particularly preferred winter / early spring since I could justify wearing a hoody to hide my body. Sometimes I'd wear hoodies into hotter climates for this same reason. I was insecure, felt unattractive, and just hoped puberty/adulthood would fix everything automagically for me.
I never want to be fat again. If your hips aren't showing, you know you've gone too deep into bulkymcfat turf.
The future of the USA is going to be worse. Workers aren't going into the office, students are doing everything virtually now, fat acceptance is through the roof, body shaming is cancellable. Health Care will go up in demand and costs, paid for by tax payers. The military, IMO, won't be drastically impacted negatively because fatties can still play real life CoD from the safety of home base while piloting a drone with guns and a microphone.
Addressing this as a society should be done at the federal level. Free or discounted health care if you meet certain criteria from an annual physical evaluation. Social score impacted by your spending (fast food, alcohol) habits and physical evaluations. Maybe even tax reduction correlated with your bodyfat % / obesity.
Skinny / lean will always be attractive, there is no undoing the idealistic model images that we know. Don't care how many "plus sized" models debut on advertisements, cat-walks, etc. As a woman, just being skinny puts you at above 5/10 (unless you're bald, deformed, or something). As a man, just being skinny and 5'10+ puts you at above 5/10.

That isn't the case where I live. I'm around a ton of wealthy college kids, 18-25 and they're all in good shape and physically fit. I went to the same college, and students were definitely more overweight when I went to school.
My thoughts are that the younger crowds nowadays are way more fitness oriented. And unlike a bunch of high cal Fast Food, they're more into Chipotle and eating things that aren't totally unhealthy for you.
Sometime in the last 10 years, there was a big shift in how messaging toward food is with younger generations, and that seems to have made a big difference. Along with them living their entire lives on social media and not wanting to be fat because of that.

Then you go on social media and 95% of the people are fit.
Shows you how skewed things are today.
Feels good to be the minority tho, lettuce be real tea...Life is still a competition and we're winning. And by "we're" I mean the other three guys on the misc who exercise too.

One thing I will never understand is how a person can’t find working out a hobby.
Actually two things. The other one is getting fat an obese.

Guess what, fatties? Fat People Hate isn't some secret society. We aren't the dregs of society come together to "make fun of people [and I use that word loosely] behind their backs". Do you really want to know who we are?
We are...
your coworkers
your customers
your clients
your vendors
your servers
your service providers
your babysitters
your acquaintances
your friends
your best friends
your cousins
your siblings
your parents
your children
and many, many more.
We aren't some mystical dregs of society that congregate to "talk **** about people behind our computers". We are the general public. We can't say the **** we say out in public because we care about not getting fired or perhaps kicked out of public places.
Don't think for one moment that we are some special breed of person full of hate, oh no. We are everywhere. We are everyone -- everyone who isn't a ****ing hambeast thinks and feels the exact same way.
When you're out in public and you see a thin person and you think they're judging you, guess what? You're right. We do judge you. Constantly. If you walk into a store and your stomach has been inside the building a good ten minutes before your face gets in, you're god damn right me and everyone else is judging you for the lazy, greedy, fat piece of organ-murdering **** you are.
When we see a fat person, "even" someone who "only" has 30 pounds to lose, the immediate thought that pops into our heads is "fat". That is all we can see, because that is all that you are. Not only do you no longer resemble the human form and thus cross into Uncanny Valley territory, but you are a drain on the economy, on healthcare, and on our personal ****ing space. And we hate you. We all hate you. This is not a secret society. This is a place we can go to bitch together about the **** we already bitch about amongst our thin friends who understand our hate and our complaints, and who feel the exact same way.
You are a parasite. You are a plague. You are everything wrong with society. You made a choice that not only negatively affects yourself, but also your kids, your family, your friends, and strangers. And you don't care. You don't care enough about even your own kids to try to be a human ****ing being. You are disgusting. You are worthless.
We want you to know that no matter where you go, no matter how many of us may smile at you in passing, no matter how many of us speak kindly to you throughout the day... you disgust us. You always have and you always will, until you finally get your **** together and realize there is more to life than Coke and cake.
We are judging you. All the time. Never forget that.

Hell, for CPD, they had to lower the physical standards, because something like 75% of 21 year olds couldn't run a mile and a half in 13:45, or do the 38 required sit ups in a minute.
So yeah, you're full of ****.

What's even crazier when you really think about it is the fact that 20% aren't necessarily fit, they just aren't overweight. There's way more skinny fat adults wandering around than physically fit adults too.
I'd guess something like 5% of the population is in shape.

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

This is my country, I am American, I love America and I care about it.
I've been overweight, I've been underweight, so I know what it's like on both sides.
If someone who is obese wants to lose weight for their health, that's inspiring and I will encourage them.

Kids are fatter and lazier than ever. Most sit on social media all day instead of exercising.

Over 90% of NAcels could lose at least 20lbs to be in decent shape(flat stomach, slight definition)
Over 50% are medically stage 1 obese or higher
The average female is now 64lbs overweight(obese)
It is endemic & possibly the largest(pun) progenitor of disease ranging from respiratory infection, cardiovascular disease to literal cancer(s)
All you have to do is not be fat to be in the top 10% of the population
If you lift weights casually a few times per week you will be in the top 5%
It's beyond pathetic in 2022

My thoughts are that the younger crowds nowadays are way more fitness oriented. And unlike a bunch of high cal Fast Food, they're more into Chipotle and eating things that aren't totally unhealthy for you.
Sometime in the last 10 years, there was a big shift in how messaging toward food is with younger generations, and that seems to have made a big difference. Along with them living their entire lives on social media and not wanting to be fat because of that.

How are you gonna shame someone for trying to improve their health?
Starving yourself and having an eating disorder is one thing, but chitting on people for trying to improve is backwards
It's like some sort of animalistic monkey brain stuff, like they think they will steal their man or potential mates or something
A society that shames people for being healthy or pursuing intellectual interests is actively trying to drag itself down
