Bought a new car, come in and hate.

2020 Tesla Model 3 Performance (I know, just listen)

Yeah, I hated EV cars and gave people shyt about them forever, but I got kinda talked into trying this by some friends who have them. I test drove one, watched some videos and got interested. I had a 2018 Chevy Colorado and I'm not particularly a truck guy, so it was this or an Audi RS5. I looked at my bank account and I was spending $350-400/month on gas and I knew that would be more with the Audi since it would need 93.

My last car was a Dodge Charger Hellcat and I absolutely loved that car. It was not a daily driver, just weekend/fun car. Unfortunately it was stolen and totaled last August by some fine young gentlemen who were just trying to get ride to space camp probably. Witnesses say they jumped out, threw a gun in the ditch and stole another car on the scene of the accident.

The Tesla is definitely fun to drive, very quick and has a ton of neat tech to it. It's a very different experience and I'm liking it. I've taken it on a 900 mile road trip already and it was awesome. I've done quite a bit of 'mods' to it already. I've done a chrome delete kit, carbon fiber wrapped the wood dash, carbon fiber wrap for the charging port, carbon fiber door sills,15% ceramic tint with 40% on windshield, black badges, with some more things on the way. I have a very minimalistic diffuser (not some need for speed shyt the Ikon diffuser) and Eibach lowering springs and black brushed metal wrap for the center console to put on this week.

Without further ado, here it go. Be gentle fgts

Edit: looks really nice, bunch of parents at my kids schools are on the Tesla train and it’s all the same white look etc.. the red and tint stands out nicely and works well.

Congratulations, further contributing to the rolling blackouts/brownouts and dramatic increases in electricity costs.

Oh yeah, I remember commenting on the color of this Tesla a couple days ago. Real nice shade of red.

Did you look into audi evs? My gf has been an audi consoomer for like 10+ years now. She's thinking of going from q5 to one of the audi electric cars. She's paying for for gas per month then her car note was so we are really ready for her to switch to an ev.

I'm working from home for the foreseeable future so Im patiently waiting to buy a sports car for the summer for fun. Market has just sucked so much ass for sports cars

Thanks. Yeah, 99% of these are owned by non car people and they're bland af. I'm a big fan of red, but I've never had this shade.

Nah, the only Audi I really liked was an RS5 coupe. The Tesla is a little more practical and was easier to find for me. When my Hellcat got stolen I was heading toward a C7 Z06, then an RS5, then settled on this. I'm happy with my decision, but I still love ICE cars and have absolutely no hate for them.

I also have a 1930 Ford truck that I have did a little work on and I hope to finish someday.

Meh my only issue with Teslas is that they seem ridiculously overpriced at current MSRP relative to what you get, but hopefully you got a decent deal with the used market cratering

That looks clean as fuk brah, mirin. I've heard the interior is chit though, everything squeaks and rattles because its 99% plastic. Can't deal with that, if I'm paying so much for a car I want a nice clean wiener in my mouth and I'm not even gay.

Yeah, I've been called a traitor, been told I was dead to some lol. It's all good, I get it. It doesn't bother me. I could see myself back in a gas car no problem.

I think that's a matter of opinion. I think you definitely get your money's worth with a Tesla considering that you no longer need gas, anti freeze, batteries, alternators, oil changes and a host of other things that can go wrong with a traditional ice vehicle. And I do most of my own work/maintenance on my vehicles and always have. That's not to say the Tesla has nothing to break, just less likely and less systems. Of course, if something did happen it would probably be very expensive. However it has a 100,000 mile warranty, so I feel ok about that. It's not a catch-all, but it's nice to know there's a chance something would be covered.

I mean, it's fast as most vehicles in this price range doing 3.1 0-60 and 11.5 quarter mile. It's not exactly luxurious, but has a lot of neat creature comfort things that make me miss nothing save for ventilated seats. The one pedal driving is a fuking game changer. I rarely even touch my brake pedal. It looks ok, although that's very subjective. I hated them at first and thought they look like a Dr Seuss car, but it's growing on me. The lack of a front grill is still meh, but the rear is nice and the tint and blackout I've done helps a ton.

It's not that bad really. Since it's so minimalistic there's not much to rattle. Mine has zero rattles, but quite a bit of wind noise due to frame-less windows and no engine noise. I heard the '22's are much better at that. I sit in high end vehicles everyday at a high end car lot, trust me, it's not bad. I sat in a Mercedes S450 yesterday and was wiggling all the knobs and buttons (car coomed probably) and it's not as tight as one would think. It's not as quite as a high end Lexus/Mercedes i.e. but it's much faster and has some neat things not many vehicles have. 1 pedal driving, cabin overheat protection, toybox is neat, lights are great, handling/steering is surprisingly awesome, departure settings i.e. my car is set to be at 68 degrees M-F by 5 as I leave work. It can sync with my calendar and if I have reservations/tickets somewhere when I get in my car to head toward that it automatically navigates me to it.

Thanks ev brethern. I would have gotten new, but the transmission on my Colorado was acting funky and parts were on national backorder for months and there's a class action suit against GM over it, so I had to act fast lol. Torque converter was slipping bad.

I would pay big $$ for a Model 3 Plaid. Elon has said that he would not do it, but there's a lot of room dollar-wise and speed-wise between a Model S Plaid and the Model 3 Performance.

Classic misc talking chit over someone else being happy. Congrats OP! I went out about a month ago and got an Uber in one and that was my first time in a Tesla. It's definitely a really cool car and I've thought about getting one as a daily.

By the way, the photos are actually not loading so Kiop is not being a phat ****gggot.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.

Gas costs are variable and are largely far in the future, and supercharger costs have gone way up without mentioning that gas taxes are currently subsidizing EVs and that won't last forever nor will cheaper electricity if everyone switches to EVs. They'll get everyone reliant on EVs, and then they'll ratchet up charging costs.

I don't have a problem with EVs though, there are EVs where I think you're getting your moneys worth. A new Model 3 Performance right now is $82k CAD, that's fukn ridiculous compared to what other cars can be bought for that price

I don't have a problem with EVs though, there are EVs where I think you're getting your moneys worth. A new Model 3 Performance right now is $82k CAD, that's fukn ridiculous compared to what other cars can be bought for that price
LOL @ superchargers. Just get a garage charger. Costs like $6 for me to charge it all the way.

I've never understood the EV hate. I prefer gas/diesel engines but if you don't haul stuff EVs are just better for people who trade out cars every couple of years, don't take long road trips.

That being said I know those wheels help with aero but good lord man, use this month's rentoid allowance to get something better looking. That car is too sharp to be sporting those things

This is the way to go, I'd buy an EV for daily driving and just charge it in the garage overnight

But for road trips and people who don't have garages, Supercharger rates have increased to the point where it's eroding savings versus gasoline

This. I only supercharge when I'm traveling. Top it to 85% overnight while I sleep just like a phone.
