Worth playing FF7 remake?

I was one of those players in the early 2000s that had no idea what to expect (brother and his friend intentionally kept it from me). The game took me in 350%, and since it’s full of sad (and a little bit of happy) chit, I was hooked hard. Did they do it justice?

I played the original 20+ years later, and some songs in that game take me back decades in an instant.

same bro, ff7 original was amazing on ps1. Im waiting for all the remake parts to come out before I play it through. I know, I'll be waiting a decade but im not trying to play 1/3 of a game I know the basic storyline to lmao

FF7R is great even though its very different it still captures the FF7 feels.

When I was around 12 or 13 my dad bought this chip that he soldered into the ps1 so that I could play burned cd games.. One day he brought home like 50 games lmao

Core memory unlocked that day. FF7, Road Rash, NHL 98, Armored Core, Air Combat, etc.. I never even knew about FF7 until I gave it a shot and got hooked.

1000%. The remake is different, but it is SO ****ing good. It's like they took the original and dialed it up to 11. Midgar looks incredible. Everything is so good. It's a must play if you played FF7. It's a must play regardless.

Don't wait. There's at a minimum 60 hours of gameplay in the story alone. People easily squeeze 100+ hours out of it. The game is incredible. You won't regret it.

Calm down.

OP It's great fun but not top tier.

Non spoiler negatives to keep in mind:

- this game is a sequel, NOT the original story.
- it has multi dimensional/time travel fukkery
- it is part 1 of a trilogy. Part 1 only covers the Midgar section
- they try to pad the story with extra characters and missions which I like, problem is those side missions are ASS
- game is very much on rails so there's no expansive areas. Everything is cramped and full of corridors
- characters act goofy sometimes, like your typical anime characters
- they got too fan servicey with sephiroth q
- convoluted af ending

Pros:

- Tifa's tits in HD
- Aerith is very developed here and steals the show
- gameplay is very fun
- the final fantasy charm and magic is still there
- soundtrack is awesome
- most characters are awesome


I can see you're a big FF fan so it's a must play, just lower your expectations if you're expecting a faithful remake. It is not, this is a new story.

Wow, looks like they made it pretty dense, which is what we want with a game like this. Looking forward to getting this going. I replayed the OG game. Mastered basically any materia worth leveling, and got 3 sets of master materia for the main party (plus w anything). Pain in the ass to get all huge materia, but it’s done. Time to move on brahs. This is stuff I’d have flexed 20 years ago. Agree with posters, time to play the new version
