List your boomer-style hate for new tech

So I bought this scale that also measures body composition. Instead of having the scale work as a standalone, you have to download an app for your phone or tablet to use it.

Just want to check your weight, bf% and how much water you're carrying? Hold on there cocksucker you first need to download the app from the app store, then make an account on the site, connect the scale to your phone via Bluetooth, then you can start using it.

Oh wait hold up you douche the app isn't working properly so you have to reach out to customer service who tells you "try turning it off then turning it back on" after waiting 4 days for a reply from them. Then they suggest you try reinstalling the app you just fikcing installed 4 days ago. Then they give you a list of steps to configure the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and your phone with the app so things work properly. You can't have the scale turned on before you try to connect because it may try to connect to another receiver. Make sure the scale is not listed as a connected device on your Bluetooth menu in Settings because it might confuse the scale.

Okay well sounds like we need to fix and update the app, then. Oh **** haha the new updated app is no longer compatible with your two year old phone haha what a useless fahgot you are haha guess you can't weigh yourself haha bitch

So I pull out my backup phone which is barely compatible with the new app, download it, still won't connect to the scale. I end up having to tell the app I have a completely different device for it to connect properly. Customer service responds "I'm glad you were able to figure it out let me know if you need any more help thanks for contacting us!"

I saw something posted before awhile back about some guy who couldn't get his dishwasher to work because his internet went down and the dishwasher couldn't connect to the WiFi

I tell you what.

I haven't had an accident or ticket behind the wheel since 2010, have every "safe driver" discount available.

Text messaging is dum as fck now. Send a text out and then you get alerted that someone "liked" your text or "laughed" at your text. Wat, a simple text message has turned into social media. I automatically silence and mute any group chat I get added on now.

It's fun having it in the home though and it becomes more advantageous the larger the house.

We have everything (heating, lighting, blinds/curtains etc) controlled from ipads and touchscreens. I refuse to use any commercially available voice activated systems.

The thing to bear in mind with tech is that the majority of it is just marketed crap. "Create" a need. Most of it is completely unnecessary, but has been sold to you as making your life better, even though it doesn't.

Was it a Fitbit scale? I had the same issue with the one my wife bought. She got connected fine, but it was a year of occasionally trying before mine phone hooked with it.

I bought a new ceiling fan cause of the way it looked. It was one of the most expensive ones that Home Depot or Lowes had. I install it and it only hooks up to one wall switch, unlike the old one that connected to 2 switches to control the fan and light seperately. It came with a remote control to turn on and off the fan and light and adjust the speed of fan and brightness of light. That is the ONLY way to adjust anything. But now the remote is acting up. Sometimes you can’t turn the light on or off or adjust it. It has the stupid button where you press and hold and it gradually gets brighter and then you release to stop. So sometimes I can have light or not, sometimes the fan works or not. Or i may have on/off and fan on full or off. No way to use the wall dimmers like before.

Those turn-knob dimmers for lights were GOAT, I assume they work off of varying resistances


This is a perfect example of how "convenience" almost always makes things worse & less reliable

Another big one is automotive, vehicles have never been more unreliable

Wonder how long my car can last?

I would like an older smallish truck though. I don't need something commercial grade, just okay towing and a large enough bed to move some dirt and plants or a sofa.
