Is Dave & Buster's a good first date?

I've just started getting back into dating, and I've never actually been to one before. So I've been thinking about using this as a reason to go.

Throw it out at her and make your decision based on her reaction. If she shows any positivity go for it and make it a fun night, if she doesn’t respond well to it just act like you were joking.

No joke, the last 3 girls I've been with (1 was a 3+ years LTR, 1 was a 2 months "talking but no action" fling, latest 1 I've smashed 15+ times in 1 week recently), the first date was ALWAYS Dave and Busters. If she's down for a later night, then follow up with Top Golf or something.

Why does this work? It's simple:

- Very high probability she has never been, or if she has then its been a long time / rare.

- You're both running around playing different games and having fun, learning about each other along the way. (Shoot hoops, play air hockey, some guitar hero, shoot some zombies, play connect 4, race in mario kart). This diversity opens many conversations: What sports have you played, are you good at any instruments, what songs do you like, what video games are you a fan of, etc.

- Can win prizes for her

- There's a bar / food, get drunk and eat some nachos or wings

- Literally minimize the awkwardness/discomfort because you're both focused on what you're doing and what you're doing next

- Can actually talk the entire time, unlike some things like a theater/movie

It's not the worst place to go. I think some kind of real entertainment is needed for a first date. movie theater, bowling, sports, games, live music, etc.

a simple coffee shop visit or dinner only date could be awkward. I love food, but not so much talking and trying to entertain all by myself.

First date I often did coffee, but I found a good early date was something like mini golf. My wife and I did that for our third date. It's a good way to get someone out of their shell and be themselves, instead of having the "job interview" feel some dates can have. D&B would likely be something similar, albeit more expensive than a round of mini golf.

I think it’s a great idea OP. Lots of fun stuff to do to keep you both engaged without having to carry the conversation.

I always say bowling is the best first date. But D&b is bowling on steroids.

The one by me is kind of ghetto though.

I remember reading years ago (and generally agreeing) that first dates are usually more successful if they are centered around a shared activity where there's some sort of physically active component. So Dave and Buster's makes sense.
