I watched the whole thing, interesting concept.

I wish we had more communities like this that could work together on a local scale for commerce and collective living, but not go full Amish. A better balance would be ideal imo.

I love the U.S. and capitalism, but I admit our hyper consumerism and "good times" have made us very weak as a society and prevent us from being our best.

They seem like nice happy people on camera, but these hippie communes have historically (1970's/1980's) served as gateways to cults. Pooling their money together and getting a small allowance is a red flag for me.

Also I don't think they take too kindly to minority folk living amongst them.

Dude honestly you trying to "brag" about a completely average existence is kinda sad. How old are you again? It's funny that you call me a communist yet I'm far far far far far more wealthy than you'll ever be. Thinking that owning just one piece of property with a poverty pool is a kind of uber achievment is just a testament to your peasant status.

My plan is to have a house with land and have a mini homestead, but still be on grid and utilize clown world technology and grid systems. I plan to be a part of a functioning small community but not completely amish style (as much as I think the amish are awesome). You can still take the best of both worlds. You just need to make sure you set up a good network and local community.

Community and small local governance.

Mirin, this is far more natural than the clown world we have built as a "society".

Typical americuck arrogance and ignorance. Sure the third world sucks as a pleb with ambition, due to the lack of upward mobility, but if you have even a tiny bit of money it mogs the states.

I small sense the low test spewing from the pores of your posts.

Imagine being a "man" and not enjoying a porterhouse with peppercorn sauce and a top shelf old fashioned, followed by a stogie.

Enjoy your fungus and legumes though.

It's not really a commune, but there's this place where I live called the Odiyan Retreat Center. It's like a Budhist monk temple up in the mountains in northern california, I guess you can volunteer yourself to live and work up there. Dude I knew was a complete stoner **** up, his parents volunteered him to live there, he disappeared for like six months, came back completely changed and skinny, now he is a commercial refrigerator tech working on the cooling for wine cellars in Mendocino, Sonoma and Napa counties.

Apparently those budhist monks up in the mountains are all vegan and work people like slaves. He said over half the people quit before the time they pledge is up. The only reason he didn't quit is because he had nowhere to go, his parents lied to him and said they were disowning him, selling the house and taking the RV on a cross country road trip.

So some people figured out a way to be happy, make some money, and not push their chit on others?

Republicans will scream about a bunch of fukkin commies.

You 100% live for your employer, probably obsessively watch Band of Brothers, think Reagan was a god, and define yourself through your work.

You're literally a Communist.

Hope for what? Running away from your problems in urban society and then bringing them back to the commune? i.e., casual dating and having sex, and the associated problems with that - FYI this is one of the biggest issues of causes of disarray in small communes and tribal societies, people would be neck and neck with each other if it were not for some marital laws.

You may as well just live a peaceful life in society and not care about being better than somebody, so that way you don't care that you're 'below' someone else on the totem pole, because if you have frustrations about this, you sure as hell will bring them with you and see them around you.

It's good that these people have found a way to survive and live off of the land, that's for sure, but in my opinion if you can't do that in society, you might also be the problem... unless they come from real rough backgrounds i.e., coming from a ghetto area, etc.
