We still have better natural resources and physical security than a lot of countries and we have an "echo boom" generation [the Millenials] which other industrialized nations do not have.
Our government appears to be corrupt beyond repair. The currency system is f*cked as far as I can tell.
I do believe that there is a group or groups trying to actively manipulate how the coming transition unfolds and trying to maintain their rulership over the masses.
And I do believe that they are using big data, some sophisticated algorithms, and perhaps AI to herd us into a control grid which will cement their power. Go read about Vanguard's "trading platform" called Aladdin if you missed that story.
Either people mount a real resistance to the oligarchs or we enter neo-feudalism under which the US will continue to be milked dry, only now with less regard for the people formerly known as the middle class. It will likely look more like gated communities and outright slums.
If the neo-feudalists succeed then the country will probably remain whole, but it won't mean much. Will US slum life be better than UK slum life, or India slum life? IDK.
If the neo-feudalists are defeated then there are more branches which open up regarding currency and trade:
It's a mess. And probably why a lot of people are wary of holding cash vs. real estate and physical goods right now.
No matter what though I expect a generally lowered standard of living in the US due to our devalued currency and massive debt. We probably can't continue to use our funny money to purchase real things from producers in other countries and will have to trade real value for real value.

There wont be a civil war or war of any kind. There will be maybe a few more "dangerous" events (scamdemic) that big daddy governments needs to protect us from. Of course power will have to be consolidated and more of our rights will be taken away in the interest of protecting us. We will see more of what we see now. Travel will be limited, for your safety, and because everything you "need" is right where you are. People aren't even going to need or own cars like we do now. Cars will be for corporations and upper class peoples.

People won't have compassion or empathy for each other - just like in China
People won't have any sense of ethnic or cultural cohesion because everyone is a mulatto - just like in Brazil
