Northern California was once an escape from the chaos down south. A slice of that Classical California - the California that is all but extinct. I'd always marveled at the beauty of Mt. Shasta.

Take a look at this beautiful town - Folsom. It has extremely low crime rates!

The Bay Area is extremely liberal. If you head north it's more Red.

basically all the big cities are liberal and the rest is conservative. It is the exact same way for the rest of the US.

When people say "northern california" They usually mean the Bay Area, but as someone that was born and raised in Chico, I consider everything north of Sacramento "Northern California"
There's nothing up there. The cost of living is significantly cheaper than the rest of the state but the weather sucks. blistering hot in the summer, and just stuck in the upper 30's all winter, but never quite cold enough to snow (unless you actually go up to the mountains). There are no jobs everyone is either a nurse a crippled tradie hauling lumber or some chit or a "hustler" doing odd jobs. You're hours away from the beach, but its "pacific northwest beaches" and by that I mean there's no sand at the shore its just gravel and the Alaskan current brings in all the cold water so you'll freeze your balls of the moment you step foot in the water, and even if you have a wetsuit, the waves are too calm to surf. Its perpetually muddy and dirty, and its just a cluster of small podunk towns with nothing to do but gamble at casinos. Yet despite all of that you still have to deal with the high cost of living compared to the rest of the country without the perks of living in California. If I wanted to stay in a region of country like Norcal, I'd just move to a place like Idaho because its basically the same damn place in terms of job opportunities and demographics.

My brother lives in Tahoe and loves it. It can be a tourist trap a few months out of the year and a hassle depending on which side of the lake you live, but the weather in the summer is unbeatable. Winters are obviously harsh, but the locals are good people and everyone is very friendly. Good restaurants and bars, and every March is Snow Fest, when the whole lake turns into a massive party.

Pretty accurate depiction. Basically the coastline is liberal, and you get more conservative the further east you go.

It has plenty of red areas, but you're still gonna have the same commie government no matter where you are in the state. Gavin Nuisance as governor, high taxes, less rights etc. I would avoid the whole state for that reason

GOAT fishing and backpacking are the only reasons I still stay here otherwise I'd fukc off to Montana or Idaho. Between the ocean and foothills and alpine lakes we have legit year-round fishing opportunities here that's not available anywhere else in the country.
