Does exercise really help mental health or.....
are people who are mentally healthy more likely to exercise?
I've never believed exercise improves ones mental health besides giving you a hobby/purpose for the day. I see this message pushed every new year and I just don't believe it. Big gym out there trying to bring in more people.

Yes, exercise is good for mental health. Just look at how badly behaved a poorly exercised dog tends to act compared to one that gets regular good exercise.
That being said, I do think the benefits are overrstated at times by some. Like with many things like that.

ever hear of runners high?
it definitely optimizes the system that is the body if you correlate it to something like adding new features on a pc that make it run faster

I think it depends on the type of workout.
For me weightlifting does nothing for my mood, the only benefit is that I look better and thus feel better about myself.
Cardio puts me in a great mood instantly and it lasts throughout the day. A 7am cardio workout before work sets the tone for an unreal and productive day.

I think so. It creates a reciprocal effect with any other factors like immune functioning, energy, focus, self-esteem, self-confidence, etc.

Over 80% of any gym doesn’t even exercise tho.
They walk to some machine and set up camp
They lift one set which typically takes less than a minute.
Then they sit around for 3-5 minutes “recovering” before slightly exerting one muscle group for less than another minute.
They shuffle around like cows in a pasture repeating this process for like a fukking hour.
Pretty sure these people don’t get to see the benefits of pushing your body in real exercise.

if you go to the gym and ACTUALLY put in work, then yes. it is the ultimate perk for a man. every dude who puts in work in the gym makes fun of the mentally ill.
we have figured out how to fix all health and mental problems. lift weights, eat proper diet, get sun. almost all of your issues are resolved.

Anyone who has had their workout routine optimized and has also had periods of life rotting knows that exercise 1,000% helps with mood and well-being. It isn’t even debateable.

Was a fat loaf on 150mg zoloft for years to help with anxiety. Still was anxious. Started running 20ish miles a week and my anxiety is basically non existent and I completely tapered off the zoloft. Only times i get a bit anxious now is if i dont run for a few days.

Mental health isn't real, the mind is not separate from the body. Exercise is good for your health.

Helped a lot when my best friend killed himself. Also another friend of mine had a heavy ******* addiction and tried quitting multiple times, multiple ways. The only way he actually succeeded in quitting was by exercising a lot.
I honestly feel like im able to get over tragedy or other obstacles in my life much easier than others because I exercise a ton

Of course it does. It's proven.
Exercise and nature are two of the most potent ways to combat depression and mood. It's been proven through tons of studies to even help minimize cognitive decline in the elderly too. There's a reason your body releases endorphins after a little strenuous exercise.

I should do more of it but trying to balance cardio benefits with gainz means emphasizing lifting when on a time crunch.

i think it temporarily jacks up endorphins but doesn't directly help with day to day mental health. It can indirectly help with mental health such as being in better shape makes you feel better about yourself, etc

Who cares? Mentally weak people will create reasons to be sad and unhappy.
Learn how to achieve financial freedom. Eat loads of red meat. Lift heavy ****. Achieve peak athletic physicality and aesthetics. Chase hedonism. Keep a rotation of 1-2 girls to date and 2-3 girls on rotation for smashing. Chase adrenaline pumping death defying moments. (Skydiving, rock climbing, fast motorcycles, Etc.)
People spend entirely too much time in their own head. Reflecting on their own self pity.
