I’m a 92Y, so I work with supply. My first duty station is in an all male infantry unit. I’ve been here for about 2 weeks, and I absolutely hate it.
My training overall was much more toned down, especially in AIT. Once I got to my actual company, I was told that it was expected I be able to keep up with everyone else. While I’m not making excuses, I do feel it sucks because I’m expected to keep up with people who have had training 2x as tough. The PT is hard, they train as if they’re in ranger school. I’m expected to participate in sports with them as well as match them when it comes to the 6-7 miles 3 times a week. I’ve struggled to keep up, and I feel as tho because of that my leadership frowns upon me(they have also stated this).
I’m also uncomfortable cuz after workouts, they will immediately start undressing as if I’m not there. They make very crude remarks when it comes to the female gender and I often pretend to not hear it.
A friend I’ve made told me a situation where another female in my same predicament requested to be moved as a result of being in a male dominated company. However, they were higher rank, and I’m just a pv2. I was wondering if it’s worth mentioning to leadership that I would like to be moved. I’ve already stirred the pot enough, and I don’t want to become a target if I voice my reasons to them.
