New year's self development thread
I tried to see a single new year's resolution thread about self development because I didn't want to make this thread by myself. Didn't find so here we go! What did you have for new year's resolution? I hope at least couple guys will post here so I will get more motivated. I will probably post in this thread during the year for some updates how I'm progressing.
For me:
-No alcohol +6-7 months streak (in 2022 I had one 6 months streak)
-NO porn, porn is the biggest dopamine destroyer. This will be the hardest definitely. I will need some superpowers to success with this. I will be happy even if I manage to decrease a lot of porn watching. At the same time I will try to do no fap but some faps once, twice or 3 times a month won't probably ruin anything. (No fap made me start going to gym last November, it can't be coincidence that my first visit to the gym in 2022 happened during no fap).
-Keep training (started to go to gym again in November after long pause)
-Read +30 non fictional books (in 2022 I read 22 + 10 fictional audio books. Was worth it.). Some topics for the books: history, medicine, economics, nutrition, politics, society etc.
-No sugar for +6 months. (In 2022 I had one 2 months and one 3 month streaks) Eggs every morning seems to be the secret weapon for me.
-Keep eating pretty healthy like in 2022, but a bit more versatile diet though (as a poor guy it's not easy)
-Be more social with sloots, no wk though
-Listen to more podcasts
-Practice language skills (in 2022 I had good streak for French but I failed in the end of the year). French, Spanish and more English words.
-Learn what things I truly enjoy to do, what is my passion? Reading more non fictional books will definitely help me with this.
I'll happily receive some good non-fictional books recommendations.

Some update: No alcohol been doing OK. No porn: I watch porn few times a month, so it's still a problem. I think I need to read a book about it or at least watch a decent document about how porn affects the brains. I am proud that I have been training 2-5 times a week. Reading: I need to improve with this, too many excuses. I've read only three books during this year 2023. No sugar: Last time I ate any sugary snack was about two months ago. I haven't yet been more social with sloots, I need to improve myself more before starting to do this, I'm not yet happy with myself (or confidence). More podcasts: This has been good. Language skills: Started to practice Spanish on Duolingo last month. Learn more things about myself: I need to read more books.
I have noticed that when I abstain from "dopamine rushes", I am more patient and happy with more motivation to do good stuff like reading or cleaning my apartment.
