I was at a yard today looking for a battery and they wanted $55. A new battery at Walmart was $45(the one I needed) but they are generally around $100

The yard doesn't really care about brand. Its all the same to them. But I think the warranty matters more than the brand. Longer warranty means the battery is better.

I did the brakes on my younger bros car not too long ago on his 2016 Camry

Total for all the brakes and rotors was $300. Original set lasted 90k miles.

Just did my 2020 ram brakes

$76 for one rotor
$80 for pads

Did it myself.

Did that in my truck and was a bitch to change because of rust and when they did my tires they never put anti seize so I was under the truck wailing on the tire with a 2x4 and a sledge thought I was gonna die srs

The most important thing for any DIYer is to jack the car up and put it on stands properly and to torque the bolts correctly with a torque wrench.

When I did my first brake job, I didn't torque to brake bolts correctly and they came loose while I was driving lol. I was hella lucky nothing happen. Also forgot to tighten down my wheel lug nuts once and surprising it didn't come off either until I was at my destination. Everything else you can mess up on but not those two things - torqing and proper lifting.

Its easy if you know what youre doing and have the proper tools. For people without a proper garage and a leveled surface, its dangerous to work on their own car in terms of suspension parts.

But I once pulled into a Mexican tire shop and the guy quoted me like $200 for my brakes lol. So I was like damn forget that.

my biggest thing is, unless you have a unicorn for a shop, they aren't going to take the time to clean all the components properly. The most overlooked aspect of repair is diligent part cleaning before reassembly.

never used anti-seize an any brake bolts. Its only ever needed when the bolt and hole treads are of a dissimilar metal or corrosive environment, i guess if i lived in the northeast i'd def use it.

This. Actually it’s better to just let a shop do your battery. They put the professional protectant on it and usually give you a 5 year warranty.
