If everything else is equal, the mid engine Boxster or Cayman handles much better than a rear engine 911. Shops have been doing 911 engine / suspension swaps for years and those destroy 911s on the track. Hierarchy and tradition are what keeps the 911 rear engine at this point (even though they have improved it a lot), as mass being as close to center of the vehicle will always be preferred.

Also, for years, the Boxster and Cayman shared over 70% of parts with the 911. Almost all suspension parts are interchangeable and the 911 high hp engines are usually physically interchangeable (especially if they are flat 6s).

If the 911 is AWD, that is obviously the game changer. An AWD, high HP Cayman would be the best though.
