Do you think walmart/grocery stores will ever resume 24/7 ops?

Or at least stay open later than fuking 11PM?

Last night the batteries in my thermostat ran out so the furnace wasn't on and it was getting cold fast. It was midnight, so all of the walmarts and grocery stores are closed. CVS/walgreens are closed too. The only place I can think of to get batteries was a gas station. I had to drive all around town and hit 3 different gas stations before I found one that had any batteries in stock.

I guess its my fault for not having batteries on deck, but needing some common batteries at midnight shouldn't be a crisis when you are in a highly populated metro.

Wtf is our civilization coming to?

they really shouldn't be. keeping a whole store open and forcing a bunch of people to work night shift because some people can't plan?

I'd have just shivered for the night and gone first thing in morning... or been prepared.

I bet walmart hasnt really seen much sales drop, people just have to go earlier now and plan a little. better for bottom line.

What about people that work graveyard shift? Should they not be able to shop anywhere?

Out of a whole metro of approx 10M people you don’t think there should be a store open at midnight?

stores are open when they get off.

If some go-getter store wants to be open all night, they should do it and see if it's profitable for them. you're not entitled to that though.

Imagine how much it sucks to work all night at a ****ign wal mart man. making poverty wages.

I don’t think anyone should be forced to work a job they don’t want to because I want the store to be open, if that’s what you are thinking. I don’t support slavery lol

But if there’s workers willing to work the night, I say let them. That’s how it worked before

And people already are working all night at Walmart and grocery stores. Unloading trucks and Stocking shelves and cleaning etc. customers just aren’t allowed to come in and shop. Not being open past 11 is probably as much related to shoplifting/theft than not finding workers

And that's a big reason why they're closed, they can't find people to work the shift.

If no one wants to work the shift or those hours aren't profitable, i think they're making the right call.

Wouldn't surprise me if once all the free money gets out of the system and more people have to work that they open up again, but i think like you guys are saying there's other things to consider such as safety/looting.

Used to be GOAT stopping by after work at 3 am to pick up random groceries without the crowd.

Then Covid hit and stores were doing all they can to get everyone infected by making us all shop in a shorter time window and closing certain doors so we all had to walk in and out of the same ones.
