Twitter has not changed

I got a notice to delete a tweet because I said LGBT is a cancer. If you can't say based stuff like that, what is the point?

What can you do?

Still more open than other similar platforms.

At some point whether we like it or not the company will make content decisions based on keeping market share.

Before this the government and some powerful interests were censoring anything they didn't like and wanted to keep out of the public domain.

I've noticed though that the algorithm sucks worse over the last few weeks.

For conservative or controversial accounts it seems you have to intentionally seek out their posts because they do not show up in the automatic feed. They aren't banned and they aren't promoted- you have to remember to go and look for them.

By making you think the platform is free and open, it will make you complacent.
