the only contender would be harry potter but cucks wont even review the game because they are cucks so they wouldnt dare give it a game of the year award because they are afraid of the twitter terrorists

STALKER 2 might get it if it turned out good. Bonus points because its from a Ukrainian dev.
Otherwise yeah, BOTW2 will probably get it.

No of course not, what a silly post. But it will most likely be a primary candidate. Just based upon the developers pedigree and previous releases. Spider-Man 2 is another likely contender. Hifi rush is an early contender. If Starfield is good it could be a contender. Silksong could be a contender

It looks more like an expansion/mission pack than a full game...

Depends on how good Stafield will be, it that game sh*ts the bed then Zelda will win. (or slight chance stalker 2 wins)

its going to be extremely hard for zelda because it will likely not be better than BOTW. It wont feel new and fresh.
HiFi Rush, Harry Potter, Spider man 2, Final Fantasy 16, Starfield. A lot of games with at least equal chances.

Probably dumb of us to expect the real goods to be shown

It'll be Starfield IMO. Zelda has a solid chance, but a lot of it looks exactly like BOTW. I think that will hold it back tremendously.

So far, the answer seems to clearly be Hogwarts. Let's see if anything is better as the year progresses.

Not going to lie, it would be kind of hilarious if it was Resident Evil 4 Remake:The best game of 2023 is a remake of a game from 2005. Get your shiit together, games industry."
Anyway, the first BotW just never grabbed me enough to even bother finished the emulator install. A fully open world Legend of Zelda game sounds like child me's dream, but stripping away the unique dungeons, temples, bosses, and interesting gadgets makes it more of a monkey's paw. I'm sure it's a perfectly fine "explore the world" sort of game if that's what you're in for, but when the most fundamental components of an LoZ game are so cut down or oversimplified, I see more missed potential being exchanged for shallow size. The best way I can put it is that if BotW was a spinoff like the Hyrule Warriors games, I could totally see it.
So from what they showed for the sequel, eh, I remain completely apathetic. I'm sure it will be good quality - Nintendo rarely, if ever, releases something subpar - but I can certainly see it getting comparatively lukewarm reception if they don't expand the game in meaningful ways beyond some daft minecraft/vehicle mechanics to trivialize travel (since adding a bloodymotorcycleclearly wasn't enough along with the damn iPad) and some floating islands to justify giving Link a literal flying machine.
Don't get me wrong, as I really would hope that Nintendo diverted more effort to fleshing out those shortchanged elements since the open world, exploratory foundation is relatively set.
Total aside, but obligatory: I cannot for the life of me like Breath of the Wild (and now Tears') art direction. Where Wind Waker was vibrant and expressive, BotW/TotK is washed out yet with cranked up light that is almost blinding, with the actual lighting effects like fire and magic taking it a step further to where they don't even fit in with the rest of the design.
Equally obligatory, it's not as though the base art style ishopeless, either as shown by reshades such asthis.
I'm happy they're back to a voiceless protagonist, but just one example of another RPG aspect that has me leery is the balance between stats (numbers) and gameplay. On its own, the shooting already looks really unengaging with the same old, same old daft AI, however it's the balance between all of the possible RPG stats, weapon damage vs enemy health, enemy leveling, armor, just the countless variables that have to interact to maintain a degree of both challenge and progression.
Previous Bethesda games have been rightfully criticized for streamlining (a.k.a. dumbing down) mechanics, and that is one of my big concerns, alongside doing so in exchange for their other trend of diving deeper and deeper into collecting random faff, crafting, and building stuff.
Visually, what they showed offisgorgeous, I'll give them that for sure.
