Taxes in some blue run states I've read are some of the highest in the world.
Wasn't surprised to see this article the other day. Lots of former New Yorkers living in this area of Florida.
"Billionaire property developer predicts MORE New Yorkers will flee to Florida over high taxes and surging crime rates - as he pushes to create more office space as residents flood into the state
Stephen Ross, 82, whose net worth is around $12billion, has said that people in the Northeast are looking for warmer climates a lot earlier than retirement
Due to New York's high taxes and rising crime, he believes many more will flock to the Sunshine State
Vacant office rates are as high as 50% in NYC, 26% in San Francisco, and 15% in Chicago "

EDIT:For context, the equivalent in Florida would be like a 250K~ Gross Pay. And we've not even talked about COLA as far as eating expenses, rent, etc.
Basically 0.5MM in NY is like 100K in Florida, lol. BRUTAL for NYers.

If I take what I make here in a smaller suburban area in IL and transfer it to NY, it would almost be triple. I made a little over 61k this year. Not great but not horrible for where I live either since I am not in a city or city county. 61k where I live is equivalent to making 150k in NYC lmao.
