US will default this summer unless Congress raises debt limit

U.S. will default this summer unless Congress raises debt limit, CBO warns

The Congressional Budget Office has issued a new estimate of how long the Treasury Department can sustain its extraordinary measures to prevent a debt default: Five to eight more months.

If Congress does not pass a debt ceiling increase before these measures are exhausted, the government will have to delay certain payments, default on its debt, or both, CBO said.

Sounds like a call for the GOP to not cut a single dime of spending and increase that limit.

Surely this time enough members of congress will do the fiscally responsible thing and cut spending. What's that you say? They will do nothing, Chip Roy will make an angered speech on the house floor, and then they will overwhelmingly agree to raise the debt ceiling like they always do?
