General Wesley Clark: America's Foreign Policy Coup

We're hearing a lot these days about how NATO is a defensive alliance that just wants peace and would never hurt a fly unless attacked first

Try to keep that in mind while listening to this speech from general Clark in 2007

At the end the only question you ahould have is how did a Russian agent get to the rank of general

PNAC has been defunct for almost 20 years now and Donald Rumsfeld is dead and gone.

PNAC's policies were adopted and have been in effect for 2 decades. Try again.

Or feel free to tell me Fukuyama is irrelevant.

LOL

Syria begs to differ

US foreign policy has been about destroying potential Russian allies and maintaining global hegemony status for the last 20 years and you're out of your mind (or maybe retarded) if you think that's changed

Maintaining global hegemony is a bad thing?

It's a terrible thing. It means you have to constantly eliminate peer competitors. China will not be eliminated, and it's incredibly unethical and fuked to try to keep a nation of 1.4 billion in abject poverty. We are only 4% of the world. We should not run it. A multipolar world will be a safer world.

Other countries can and will develop. We must build a true international forum for global collaboration, security, and peace. It cannot be just us dominating everything forever.

I didn't say it is good or bad, just that it's happening and people saying it isn't are liars.

But yes, it is bad to overthrow governments just because they're not on your team.

Problem is, China and Russia dont believe in a multipolar world, they believe in a world where they're #1, they've said so publicly.

Your thinking is naive.

This is true, more-so with China, and I'm surprised you are able to admit that.

Show where they said that. Show any speeches given by Xi or Putin that promote that. This is complete and total hogwash.

We are the ones with 800+ bases overseas. How is China or Russia threatening to conquer the world?

Seriously. Only one country is trying to tell everyone else what to do, and that is us.

BTW "being #1" doesn't mean conquering everyone. China can and should be the #1 economy on Earth. They have 1.4 billion people. India should be #2 (perhaps #1 in the future). The US should be #3 (likely eventually falling behind Indonesia, Pakistan, or Nigeria eventually.).

In a just, developed, and prosperous world, that is how it would be.

We need to work on truly building a cooperative multipolar world or there will eventually be a third world war. If you want America to remain #1, start having more babies or importing more people, I guess. But remember that times are getting tougher. You won't have the same QOL. Everything comes with a tradeoff.

If you honestly think that China isn’t trying to become the lone super power in the world, and that Russia sabotages it’s enemies as much as possible to maintain position then I don’t know what to tell you…

Does russia do these things and then say 'we're just defending democracy and freedom and only bad people have a problem with it'

We all get it. The US has an empire to maintain and so they're going to do imperial things. Just don't insult our intelligence by pretending otherwise

I’m sure they say those things to their citizens and allies, particularly China. But yeah I agree America has done absolutely horrible things and it’s an insult to a person’s intelligence to just assume our missions are all sunshines and rainbows. But atrocities are not unique to America, though perhaps the scope and scale may be. That’s not because our enemies are not moral though, it’s just because they aren’t as powerful. Given the opportunity they’d be more than willing to do anything we’ve done and actually probably worse.

You're sure they say those things. Have you ever watched any of Xi's speeches or read his rhetoric? No. You just use that to rationalize America's position.

You have to remember this is 2007 when he talked about what the memo said and what they told him and those things are exactly what happened in the 2010's. Except we diverted the plans a little, never got Iran but got Yemen. Still working on Iran. Added Russia to the list. China might be on the list as well.

In the end, DESTABALIZE TO CONTROL and that policy seems to be domestic policy as well.
