Married brahs…gtfih
How long long did it take before you proposed to your wife?
When did youknow? Was it something you saw in her or was it external pressures (her asking, family asking, etc)?

Just over two years.
I *knew* when she took me on a weird date: it was freezing in rural Germany, and she brought blankets and a thermos of tea. She laid the blankets there and we watched my first ever 'shooting star' shower, and she said the game was to make wishes on those shooting stars for the things we most want in the world.
Something happened then, I don't know how to explain. I felt something align, in me, with the world around me. And that was that. It's ineffable, but I tried to explain the moment as best I could.
I never thought I'd get married until I met her, srs - I was 31.

took me 2 months. She was an answer to my prayers in every way. No really. I had just become a Christian a year prior and prayed to God for everything I wanted in a wife. God told me to focus on Him first and He will deliver. He did.. married 18 yrs now

5 years
Been together 16 now.
I knew when she stayed with me for 5 years and I was only taking in like 30-50k a year and was an alcoholic line cook. She will never cheat and she doesn’t care about money. She might kill me one day tho.

We got married when we decided to have a kid. We had already been together for a lot of years and neither of us was going anywhere, but you need to formalise things when kids are involved.

Proposed after 7 years. Will be 13 years total together in September (fuk me time flies. You really do just wake up old one day).
I was never really opposed to marriage like some brahs. Fortunate to have good examples of positive relationships in my life. Both my parents and hers are still married after 40 years. My grandparents are still alive and have been married for 65. So to me I was never afraid of it like some guys. Plus from a cynical misc point of view - I don’t have chit to lose in a divorce lol. She’s made more money than me every second we’ve been together.

Stop thinking your situation is so unique and special, because it's not. 50% of marriages end in divorce, and another 40%+ eventually wind up miserable but staying together out of convenience. That's a 90%+ failure rate. You marriagecels aren't fooling anyone over the age of 30 who has experienced falling in and out of love at least once during their lifetime.

I knew the moment I met her.
We started dating two months after we met. One month later, I asked her to marry me. We're still together to this day and coming up on our 11 year anniversary next month.

3 years. I knew because she had every quality I was looking for in a wife. Some people don't like it when I post the realities of my life, so I'll spare the details, but in essence, she's as perfect as a woman is gonna get.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Your inability to be happy for other people renders you a special sort of embittered divorcecel. Do you take solace in those numbers that you and the other divorcecels spew on this forum? Not everyone ends up like you. Look to your situation and consider how you ended up that way, before trying to undermine the experiences of others. You cannot.

We were high school sweethearts. Started dating Sept 2000 when I was a senior and she was a sophomore. In spring 2003 I interviewed for a job 2 states away. She wanted to move with me if I got it. She was graduating high school and turning 18 that June. A week after she graduated, she went with me for my final interview. That night I got the job offer. I proposed right after. Mostly because I wanted to, partly because when I asked her dad after applying, he was worried that she wouldn't have health insurance if she went with me.
This July makes 20 years.
As for the cheating aspect, neither of us has ever cheated. Both of our parents are still married 40+ years, however her mom did have at least one affair.

We took the yolo approach and started trying for a baby a few months into dating. We got married after having our first child and have been married for 2 years now.

Took me 7 years of waiting for her real personality to come out, and it never did. She was everything a man could want. Now that we've been married for several years and had 2 kids, everything is still amazing, other than the parting of the legs has become less frequent and unenthusiastic.
Hopefully just tired from the kids, otherwise I'll be stepping out sooner or later.
Cliffs: Tried to leave her after 4 years of dating, but she murdered all 6 girls I tried dating during our break. Hi, FBI.

In general after one year absolute max you should propose and marry in second year. Otherwise you’re just wasting each others time.
