(Warning Boomisc Topic) Anyone on that nextdoor/neighborhood app?

Do yall have people begging for money from their neighbors?

I saw a post today from a lady asking for donations to take her kids to Disney World. She scheduled a trip and has already purchased the tickets or something, and thought she'd have enough money by now for a hotel room, but "things happened" and she doesn't.

WTF at the audacity of people. I thought gofundme was bad.

(FYI these posts are the poor neighborhoods near mine, not my neighbors lol)

I joined yesterday just because my neighborhood association handed out flyers inviting us all. Looked to be boomers posting random thoughts, photos of birds in their yards, etc., and some lonely, weird guys trying to introduce themselves on all the posts indicating a woman had joined the group. I'll be shocked if I ever look at it again.

Don't have app or live in the states, but even as far back as 10 years ago at this place i worked at, this prick (also he earned well more than me) would come around all the offices asking everyone to 'sponsor' his kids to do some fcking trip abroad, like canoeing or something, with their school.

Nothing wrong with his kids as far as i was aware (not that i would particularly care if there was), but he would just go around with a 'cash shaker thing' asking for donations for a trip for his kids, and everyone would just smile & cough up, without asking what the hell is it even about.

I'd make a beeline for the toilet whenever i saw him.

I live in a 1% town and you get sob stories from people making up crap to get free stuff
