the escape from tarkov cheat saga....
this is kind of crazy. tarkov is a cool game, well maybe not so much these days. i played a bit years ago during its initial launch, as a color blind brah i just really struggled in that game because camo actually works and people were too hard for me to see.
anyways even as someone with very little to no interest in the tarkov scene, i went down this rabbit hole of escape from tarkov getting exposed for being completely full of cheaters.
it started with linus and his co host discussing why luke (co host) quit playing tarkov. no need to watch the entire vid, you can get the idea in the first few minutes.
they go on to talk about a popular tarkov player releasing a video he made where he goes undercover as a cheater, purely trying to expose other cheaters, not going around killing people being a dick.
again, you can get most of the idea without watching the entire 40 min video
this video has apparently completely turned tarkov upside down, this game either gets a proper anti cheat or will probably die a quick death after this type of exposure.
cliffs:
- tarkov player goes under cover as a cheater
- using wallhacks he can identify other cheaters in the game using the "wiggle" which is leaning back and forth while staring at each other thru walls
- discovers cheaters in almost every raid he plays, even squads of cheaters
- video goes insanely mostly because of the attention linus tech tips podcast thingy brought to it. video is almost at 2 million views, which is very high for a tarkov video
- tarkov in full meltdown mode, very potentially RIP escape from tarkov
anyways just an interesting rabbit hole to go down if you are bored. you can see how many cheaters he runs into while playing, even as a pc cel who played alot of dead and poorly managed shooters, ive never seen something like this.
also another video of linus and luke talking about the aftermath, i havent watched this yet, literally just popped up into my youtube after i made this thread (thanks google spyware). apparently they discuss how the developers of tarkov were live streaming and people in the chat were spamming for them to watch the video. fukkin lol the embarassment must be monumental reacting to cheaters littering your game live on stream

heres the problem, even with vanguard (valorant's anti-cheat thats kernal level) the cheat makers will simply bypass it.
this will kill tarkov because its not like a battle royale where you can identify a player aimbotting and killing an entire lobby of players, this game with just walls/esp to identify players and items on ground is simply enough to kill the game.
there is way too much money in selling these cheats as subscriptions, fuk even COD cheat makers engine owning lost a 3 million dollar lawsuit to activision just recently and engine owning made cheats free for the weekend to give a fat middle finger to activision and to obviously get more people hooked on their product.
It such a serious problem that it makes me not want to play multiplayer shooters online, at least in a serious way, any longer.

i stopped playing warzone because i was dealing with cheaters almost every other game since i was in sweat lobbies all the time.
