I've owned somewhere around eight DE razors but I've never purchased an adjustable.

dollar shave club holding steady but their quality has dipped over the last two years it seems like they don't shave my face as clean as used to and have to repeat the same spots over and over and multiple angles to get the hair to go away

I just use a little soap and shave in the shower towards the end when my face is nice and warm. Never bothered with gels or anything.
