More banks are going to fail
I'm cfo of a decent sized company, we have bank accounts at a number of banks for different divisions of the company. I let the balances accumulate until I need the funds in one account or another.
Yesterday, I received a call from a member of the board of directors basically ordering me to move all excess funds from every bank with less than 500 Billion in assets to our largest bank which is literally "too big to fail" ie if this bank fails the US economy will be fuked.
My company's money won't move the needle, but I guarantee CFO's across the country are getting similar calls. Another party to the board contacted me in similar fashion this morning but things were already in motion. If 2 members of my board are taking action, everyones boardd will follow suit eventually.
Sucks for the smaller banks who have done nothing wrong, but their deposits are about to shrink dramatically, and soon their loans will be over leveraged. I could be wrong, but I'm getting my popcorn ready for the show...

Well, hopefully the Feds increase the Reserve ratio requirement.
Just so everybody is aware, the current reserve ration (cash required to be kept on hand) is currently 0%. That's right, 0%. They currently have the authority to loan out every penny that you deposit.
Puts banks at great risk of failure should there be a bank run, which is what is happening now.

That's the whole point, this is all planned and perfectly executed so far.
I need more crypto. If they really do a CBDC, crypto is going to be insane. No one wants your Federal Centralized Chitcoin

Effective March 26, 2020, the Board reduced reserve requirement ratios on all net transaction accounts to zero percent, eliminating reserve requirements for all depository institutions. The annual indexation of the reserve requirement exemption amount and the low reserve tranche for 2023 is required by statute but will not affect depository institutions' reserve requirements, which will remain zero.

All part of the plan.
- smaller banks being collapsed;expect them to be cutting their lines of credit/lowering credit limitsto improve their balance sheets
- credit contraction > economic contraction, which I know many of you think would be a good thing to fight inflation however we are already in a state of deflationary money and real trade fell off a cliff

- layoffs continue and likely increase
- this is not just a US problem...EU/euro falls first and after that happens the US has a month or three before following
What can the Fed do to fight a credit market freeze [death of liquidity]? Well they can lower the rate.
Except we have that pesky sticky inflation thing.
I understand that crisis can also be an opportunity and some will profit from this wreck.
Personally I have got to get moving selling this house and get into a minimal monthly expense living situation.
I don't see any signs that the utility company or taxman will be showing mercy to people. In this city if your water is shut off for non-payment [60 days late at most] then the city says the property isn't fit for occupancy and forces eviction. And a summer here with no electricity is miserable idea.
FWIW I heard that areas with big tech sectors are predicted to see the steepest fastest decline in real estate prices due to the spreading layoffs.

of course they are.
Banks are for profit- whats the ROI of banks that invest nearly 74m to BLM. SVF isn't the only bank to have done this. wont be the last..... goes to show those "complaints" were worth complaining about.
Perfect example of go woke, go broke.

I'm watching a JP morgan webcast right now. The head guy just said he and bankers consider corporate operational deposits to be "sticky" ie safer and better to rely on.

the reason this sucks royally is because its based on fear but also, smaller banks are where you go when you need to get something done and cant go to the bigger banks cuz of their policies or whatever.
if everyone has to go thru one of these big banks, that hurts competition andwillcontribute to higher fees down the road.

One caution, gold is only as good and valuable as a stable alpha-level monetary system exists somewhere in the world and the players there still value gold. If the goal is a permanent serf class, CBDC, and social credit score then whoever is pulling the strings can decide gold means nothing and it too becomes valueless, not saying that’s what’s happening but fkn hell I wouldn’t be surprised by anything these days

He’s right on a lot of stuff and it’s solid fundamental advice in a lot of cases, but he can be a little boomer-ish in many other cases
