The voting bloc that is making Trump whoop DeSantis in current primary polls ..
Non-white voters .

"But what may surprise is how Trump is ahead. An average of CNN/SSRS and Quinnipiac University polls released this week reveals that Trump’s lead may, in large part, be because of his clear edge among potential Republican primary voters of color.
Trump was up an average of 55% to 26% over DeSantis among Republican (and Republican leaning independent) voters of color in an average of the two polls.
Among White Republican voters, the race was well within the margin of error: Trump’s 38% to DeSantis’ 37%."

Wouldn’t be surprised. Trump has spent 6 years trying to build a coalition of conservatives from all different backgrounds. The 2020 Republican Convention is a good example of this.
For most of the modern era the GOP has appealed to only White people, but like many other things, Trump was a visionary and saw that future demographic trends mean the party must adapt or die. Plus I don’t for a second believe that Trump is disingenuous when doing it. When you look at him interact with voters, he’s basically the only politician other than Bill Clinton I’ve ever seen who is not visibly uncomfortable around Black people.
Strong economy, no wars, safe streets, secure borders and a big prosperous country is all we want. Sad that the media has tried to brand MAGA as white supremacy when it’s the opposite. America first, no matter who you are.

It will be an interesting race, most likely between Trump and DeSantis in the GOP primaries. Here in Florida DeSantis did well with Hispanic and black voters in the mid term election. Imagine DeSantis has a decent chance of doing similar in a national election.
Saw today that more evidence is coming in that DeSantis is running. Like many before running for President he is slimming down by following a low carb diet.
Slim chance: Ron DeSantis 'a shell of his former self' thanks to rapid weight loss ahead of 2024 run
