Excuses fatties have for not exercising

I knew a fat guy who told me that statistically, people who exercise live on average only 4 years longer than people who don’t exercise. To me, it seemed that he had confirmation bias and was looking for an excuse not to exercise.

Another way of looking at it is, you live 4 years longer if you exercise, and use that as the motivation to train and do cardio; in other words, see it as a positive situation instead of a negative.

What are some other excuses you’ve heard from fatties over the years for not exercising?

I've had fatties justify it by stating that diet/exercise don't work because when they stop, the weight comes right back. Umm...yeah, no ****.,

I can understand coming off a diet to have a few cheat days and gaining two or three pounds, then jumping back on the wagon. These guys that say dieting doesn’t work never stuck with it long enough.

I had my friend say the doctor said he shouldn’t. I questioned that hard.

I’ve had someone say in regard to lifting they don’t want to get to muscly even though they are obese. It’s like they don’t understand getting bodybuilder big isn’t easy even if you are big cause you’re fat. You won’t be an IFBB pro when you lose fat.

The problem is, fat people don’t have patience to see real results. They don’t see a radical change quickly in body composition and they think it isn’t working.

I don't really care if people exercise. I have MS and haven't been able to go to the gym in three years. My problem comes from people trying to force me to find their tubby ass attractive. And it irritates me when people misuse words to cover for it. Fat women aren't curvy. And fat guys misuse dad bod the same way.

Once I lose 30 lbs, I can start exercising. If I start before then, I'm risking a heart attack.

Exercising is by far the dumbest way to lose weight anyway. Way too much effort for little reward compared to just eating fewer calories than you have been.

One could argue that 4 years of extra life isn't quite all it sounds like.

Working out 5 hours a week, or 260 per year, for 50 years is 13,000 hours. 13k hours in the gym after 50 years have passed. Then the question becomes, is 13k hours greater than or less than 4 years? Answer is 13k hours is the equivalent of 541 days, or 1.48 years spent in the gym. So really in terms of "extra leisure time added to life," it's more like 2.6 years gained. Cut that by 1/3 if you count time wasted on sleep.

The above is me trying to pretend that I'm band-wagoning the logic of a fatcel trying to devalue hours spent in the gym.

they all seem to have some biological mutation that manipulates caloric intake differently than everyone who isn't a slob.

lol @ fatties srs. Imaginei voluntary chopping decades off your life because you're so weak-willed and weak-minded you can't resist the urge to eat an apple instead of a box of cupcakes. An apple is still good.

You don’t need to exercise with calorie restriction, which is now easy with Ozempic. Their excuse for being fat is the Ozempic shortage.

"Healthy at any size"

"My blood panel came back normal!"

Ask your low-back and knees how they feel about it in another 5 or 10 years.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

My all time favorite is "I dont have time"

That used to be my excuse until I made the time and decided that it was a better ROI than whatever other unimportant stuff I was doing. Now I spend 5-8 hours per week lifting and the rest of the hours during the week trying to keep on my diet.

I just turned 34 yesterday and am in the best shape ive ever been, which is sad because im still 267lbs & 33% body fat. Could be worse though

Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people I am 6'4" 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me. Probably never happen though you are probably just an internet tough guy. I doubt very seriously you would say that to someones face. Just my thought. What do you think. Oh I am sorry you probably do not have a brain. I on the other hand will be happy to buy you a plane ticket to come here and see if you have the nerve to say that to someone I know.

Exactly. It doesn't take much time in the gym if all you want from it is to be healthy and functional (as opposed to being BB huge or PL strong). 15-20 mins at most 2-3 times a week. For example push day: 3-4 mins warm ups then 2 sets of 8 reps with 1 plate bench. Same thing for leg day just replace bench with squat. That's all you need.

I think OP is talking about people who are fat because of their laziness, not people with medical conditions.

That said, sorry about your mother and we now know you love your mother very much.

Hope everything is going well for both of you. *bow*
