Just because you've never bothered to develop your coffee palette, doesn't mean they all taste the same. Try a high quality, locally-roasted dark roast vs maxwell house and report back.

Are you also one of those guys that claims american bastardized macro-piss lagers are 'real beer' and chef boyarde is 'real pasta?'

I started drinking coffee at like 25. I didn't like it beforehand. It took a while to appreciate. I used to drink instant, mind you, to curb the hunger during fasting windows of IF.

Not a coffee snob by any means. I regularly try different types and try to challenge myself. Just suggesting you think outside the box a bit. You can not like coffee, many do, and that's fine. For myself personally, it took some time. Palettes don't evolve overnight

Nah I drink Brazillian coffee sometimes, it's a treat, and the flavor profile is very different

There is Arabica, Robusta, Excelsa and Liberica. There is nuance in everything if you look for it.

But honestly Brazillian coffee is not that fancy or expensive, it just reminds me of my time in the jungles and villages of Brazil.
Beans. Cleans. Gasoline.

4 tablespoons of instant + 1 part hot water to 1 part cold water and then scull does the job for me

Will check that out, thanks for the suggestion. An old neighbour of mine was this older Jamaican lady who'd bring me back Blue Mountain coffee beans whenever she'd visit family down there. That's a special coffee. I once brewed a coffee stout using those beans and gave her one as a gift.

OP, get a good espresso machine. Espresso tends to amplify the difference, sнit from marvel. Also, get into roasting at home. With rare exception, commercial roasters turn excellent beans into similarly mediocre coffee.

That would be lots of fun. I've recently gotten into trying to makes breads. I'm gravitating towards making what I eat and drink (i.e., beer, wine, mead, mayo, bread, etc) and this would definitely add to that.

I don't own an espresso machine but +1 for OP. When I have had a high quality espresso from a nice machine, it's incredible.

I got a selection of 12 coffee packets from around the world for Christmas 22. Despite the exciting descriptions for the different flavours, whether the coffee is from Columbia, Kenya, Brazil...they taste basically the same.

You might start noticing differences the more you keep at it. I remember the moment where I began discerning different coffees. Before I delved into it, it all tasted like burned garbage to me. Then, I started noticing how I liked the dark roastiness of the darker roast coffee. I then began recognizing how the acidity levels of various coffees differ, etc.

Much like any experience in life, the more you explore, the more your perspective begins to shift and develop.

What's the brand you got as a gift?
