Looks great. High protein meal.

Is that short rib on a bed of polenta?

Olive oil cake is interesting - it was served with honey ice cream, and they drizzle a bit of premium olive oil on the cake for that different flavor than the baked cake has.

Are you a meat lover? The braised short rib with polenta was beefy, buttery and rich. Perfect leg day treat. The beef cheek ravioli the same, bursting with that deep flavor - some liver in there too for added oomph.

People don’t realize how good beef cheek and tongue can be. Liver too, for that matter. Sounds incredible, I bet the ravioli was so savory and beefy.

I'm not an expert, but one of my staple "recovery" meals is:

lightly floured veal liver, pan fried medium rare + caramelized onions, finished with a bit of apple cider vinegar to cut the richness + some homemade bread, or crusty bread. I feel my test skyrocket with meals like that, honestly.

Liver is arguably the most nutrient dense part of the animal you can possibly eat.

Right? I don't overdo it - but now and again it's a real treat. Went to a place once that did chicken liver agnolotti with some duck confit that was just hnnnngh.

I love how in the Misc there’s always someone to rain on your parade. You could post a picture of a meal hand-prepared by Gordon Ramsay and someone will say “ewww nasty 0/10”

He's the sort of Miscer that has posted threads going "I mog everyone's dinners" - and has such a fragile ego he means it.

Threads like these are a rude awakening call for him, and others like him, as casual as they are for me. LOL

I had a few cocktails too, but that's to be expected when I dine out.

He himself is a great cook - and I ate at this 3* in Chelsea in the prime, back in the day. What he's selling now is a personality, not the cooking - and those Ramsay burger joints are a laughable marketing of that. Don't confuse his actual talent with the marketing/personality bit, just saying.

Here’s another one, no matter what example I would have used, they crawl out of the woodwork to say “oh that guy can’t cook worth chit”

This proves my original point. Ok, let’s say instead of Gordon Ramsay, we use a meal cooked by a hypothetical perfect chef, there would still be someone to chime in and say “wow that food is trash”.

In B4 “hypothetical perfect chefs aren’t even the best kind of hypothetical chef bro, you don’t know what you’re talking about”

The point is, there’s always someone who feels the need to poo-poo all over anything that someone is happy about or proud of.

It is okay man, that is the Misc for some. They probably think Marco Pierre White can't cook either I mean...lol.

Looks pretty fancy OP, the beef rib looks pretty juicy sitting in the sauce.

I'm not much for fine dining, but I can definitely see the appeal.

For those asking on my CP: I was drinking 'Mezzo e Mezzo' cocktails throughout. Was a gorgeous day outside, so both refreshing and a palate cleanser.

The place itself is pretty casual and this is NYC - you see folks in shorts and t-shirts in many of the more fancy places too. Never a baseball cap though [Sopranos crew].

You didn't even need a knife for that short rib, you could pull bits of the rib through the polenta and just hnnnngh. Wifey gave me 1/2 hers too, she was full by then haha.
