Old farts: How washed up do you really get with age?

I think its time to face I just cant keep up with the same intensity and training volume...

did you notice a big decline in your 30s? thought it was due to health issues but maybe I just cant recover as good anymore due to age.

If pro athletes aren't as good in their early 30s I imagine it gets rougher for us average joes

I'm 36 and honestly everything hurts and feels like a struggle now. If I get hit with an actual injury it seems to take months to finally improve whereas it used to heal within a week or so.

I see why athletes all retire mid-30's

Cutting out all processed foods and carbs (minus fruit and white rice) was a game changer

best way i can describe it is the difference between 25 to 30 & 30 to 35 is almost night & day.

used to be able to train easily 5 days a week (only 3yrs ago) when now, im lucky if i get in there 4 days a week and 3 is more the norm, and the workouts arent nearly as good.

for whatever reason, your body just deteriorates on its own sometimes. im sure i can get back in to good shape if i didnt misc as much.

It is up to you to find purpose man.

As you get older your naivety wears off and you realize no one has any clue about what is going on. Fantastical dreams and delusions crash when you understand life is not the hollywood movie you want it to be and you have much less control of your own life than you ever imagined.

People can give up without external motivation.

You gotta dig in and find your own motivation.

I would suggest that is the biggest obstacle. Having intrinsic motivation to care and keep going.

You can’t find it in a mother person. If you put your happiness in someone else’s hands, it is unfair to them, and a lot of room for error for you.

We really do have to do our most intimate work alone.

Everything you do should be for you. Other people should and will benefit, but you work on you.

Keep setting and achieving goals. The old days are gone, but offered a lot of lessons we can use today. Don’t live there, but take the important things from it.

We can and should have amazing lives up until we die.

Also, get your test levels checked. Obviously.

I am 47 and I feel better than ever but it is alos because for the first time in my life I am getting 7-9 hours of sleep a night, eating clean and healthy, and exercising with a plan. I don't have the same natural energy but I am so much stronger and sharper tahn my younger self. I can run faster, hit harder, and fuk harder and longer than I could at lets say 25. I am also in a really good place now where as I was in some dark places in my twenties so the psychological aspect is also a factor for me. Back then i would get high and drunk everyday and do some basic workouts and get into fights once a month at least, all while getiing like 2-4 hours of sleep (if i wasnt tweaking for four or five days lol). Yeah i could pull it off but i acomplished nothing and felt like sh*t overall. Now it is the opposite.
