How do the sights on my 9mm glow?

I got this Sig Sauer P365 9MM and the sights glow. I thought it was just glow in the dark, but it's been under my mattress in the dark and they still glow. Is there a battery?

It's because it collects light. It wouldn't glow under your mattress. I once taped a Tru Glo on my dik and swang it around like a light saber in low light conditions when i was bored turkey hunting.

Tritium? I think is what it's called. Like any other glow in the dark.


Many years ago I found some glow in the dark condoms and used them lol

Yeah it has a battery. There is a screw under the front site you remove to replace it. The rear one you hammer out to replace it one end is tapered so make sure you're hitting it the right way. I recommend a plastic punch. Gl they don't last very long

Youre thinking of the ACOG's fiber optics. We actually used to put tape over them because the reticle's would get too bright red during times of intense sunlight.

The glock ones are, in layman's terms, radioactive. Not dangerously, though.

It has a small amount of radioactive material called tritium that glows for years.

There's two types, basically.

1. Radioactivity. Glows like fukkin Chernobyl waste.

2. Fiber optics. Literally takes light from outside, traps it inside your sight dots, and keeps it bouncing around inside a mirrored tube forever. The light will never hit the angle it needs to escape the tube, and it will only get absorbed by the mirrors very slowly.

Some sights use both. As soldier brahs mentioned, I think the ACOG uses a tritium post that's lit up by a fiber optic tube.
