British hunter gatherers would've looked so weird

Old Croghan Man was found in Ireland in 2003, thought to have died between 362 BC and 175 BC.

Not that weird honestly.

Europeans have been civilized for so long it weirds us out to remember our tribal ancestors.

The Huns in Europe were actually an Asiatic people that migrated there.... They WEREN'T the progenitors of the Germanic tribes. The reason why the Germans get lumped in with the Huns was because some Germanic tribes allied with the Huns to fight Rome....


The Huns in Europe were the political descendants of the Xiongnu from the steppes of Asia... "Xiongngu" is the modern Chinese pronunciation, the ancient pronunciation was something like "Hunnu" which is where the Huns get their name.

I don't think the Picts ever gave the Romans an impression of defeat, history shows that Romans enjoy revenge and Scotland isn't much worse of a campaign than hunting down Germanic tribes in forests & swamps. There simply wasn't enough interest, but the Empire had subdued the Picts many times (eg Mons Graupius) and they simply continued to harass the Romans north of the island (hence the walls).

Not sure the 27 Native Tribes of Britain would agree with that. The Romans came and butchered as many as 250,000 of them.
