Don't know a single rich person that does it themselves.

I used to be so neurotic about it being done right that I would never let anyone touch my vehicles unless it was something beyond my means to repair.

Now that I'm old and don't really get attached to my vehicles anymore I let someone else do it.

Jiffy lube rounded the fukk out of my Jeep's transfer case fill plug and it was a major ordeal getting it out. That was the last time I let an oil tradie work on my junk.

Women want traditional men, as much as guys want traditional women. Being able to change your own oil is part of that, loser.

It gives me a chance to look everything over and see if anything else needs to be repaired. Also I don't trust some dipchit 18 year old to do it.

Wife’s car and my truck is free for the life of the vehicle at the dealer.

I have an old 800hp 95 Z28 I do myself, built the engine myself too. It’s just a hobby I guess. Can’t imagine not having basic auto mechanics skills though.

Honestly I just enjoy changing the oil on my car. It takes like 15 minutes and I do it at my parents house when I’m there. It’s never been about money at all.

Think about this OP

When your driving around on the road. Hardly anyone is following the rules, even when it comes at the expense of their own safety. Speeding, following too closely, running read lights etc

Those same people are the ones changing your oil. They don’t even care about their own cars why do you think they would care about yours?

incorrect, i have a friend who is multi millionaire, like 10m+ owns a dozen properties, he changes all his own oil and does his own repairs, he actually works a job occasionally "for fun" he likes to do it mostly because he likes to save money (lol) and hates how shop mechanics typically fuk up your chit and over charge for it

If I have time and weather permitting I'd love to do my own.

BRB super satisfying when I'm done and I know it was done right.

So long as there aren't any issues taking old oil filter off

LOL I remember watching my dad and brother try taking his oil filter off for at least an hour

And the whole time I kept telling them to use a strap wrench but they wouldn't listen.

Finally they got it off, with a strap wrench

Hindsight is 20/20 but that's one time you kinda wish you pawned it off on some sucker.

Yea, let me pay some retarded degenerate who dropped out of high school at the local jiffy lube shop change my oil while he's hungover to the gills and feeling bad about how hard he beat his wife last night.

Or on the other hand, let me take my 2009 F150 to the dealer and pay $200 for $70 worth of oil & filter.

Lol if you cant change your own oil.

Way back when I was younger I had a mechanic completely strip out the drain plug hole and destroyed the engine oil pan, he plugged it up with some grey gunk shyt and never said anything. That’s just one example of several major fuk ups. I do that shyt myself now for years.

I saw a sign in a mechanics workshop with a place to put the 'talk wrench' once. All the staff wore joggers and Puma trainers
