Crying because I wont feel the same joy I got playing Witcher 3 again

Literally one of the greatest games of all time. In my top 5 undisputed till my dying day. It's not just a game, it's a life experience. Getting older sucks in the area that these games just hit you with more and more nostalgia. I can be 90yo and I'll turn this game on and for a few moments or hours I'll be taken back to a certain age and time in my life. The biggest shame is not feeling the same thing I felt when I first played through the game. I'll always enjoy it and the franchise but it's just not the same.

Agreed.. I remember the time it was releasing and I was telling a female about it, she randomly blew up on me saying "you love your xbox/games more than you love me" even though we were only friends and had known each other like 5 months. I ghosted her, and this game gave me an experience no other has. Hearts of stone was depressing but awesome and And Blood and Wine was even better than the base game.

Other game that hit my feels:

Alien Isolation - no game has terrified me more
GTA 4: The first real 'mature' game I played. First time experiencing it was something I can't quite explain, but I played the **** out of it for a good 6-7 years for the dynamic physics in the multiplayer alone. Well spent rotting
Super Mario bros 3: First game I ever played, nostalgic childhood reasons etc

Get the same feeling with the Horizon series. The game itself is great, not quite masterpiece level in terms of story but there's something about the setting and the world that feels special and immersive. There's a strong emphasis on nature and the consequences of man's endeavor to defy it. The result is a unique mix of the past and the future. Nothing has filled the void completely since finishing it.

Also love Witcher 3 and that feeling you get at the end of Blood and Wine makes you feel like saying goodbye to an old friend. It was Witcher 3 that got me back into single player games after many years of multiplayer so I'll always remember it.

Finally, the 3rd and last game that makes me feel a type of way is Mass Effect series. Brilliant story, great characters and lore. Despite being an older game with old graphics it still really immerses you to the point that you feel you're playing out this epic journey. Best overall gaming series of all time imo.

Played all Witcher series. But W3 is something special. Got the Collector’s Ed with a Geralt vs Gryphon statue.

Such a great game. One of my hardest/proudest platinum trophy.

While playing through TW3, every moment felt like I was playing through one of the greatest games ever made.

The attention to detail, the varied story paths, Geralt himself, te world building,FUKKING GWENT, the combat (i'm one of the 3 people that liked the combat), the feels; it was just an amazing experience. My top ten games list will always change a bit over the years, but TW3 is something I can't ever see leaving that list.

As for a different game?

So little muzz's first gaming memory was this guy on the gameboy

Fast forward to 2017. Playing Mario Odyssey with little muzz right next to him. Get to the New Donk City festival level. The whole level is like a nod to Mario's roots, an the whole time my boy is singing along to the music and I'm thinking, "I was barely older than him when I first started playing Mario". It all hit me right in the fukking feels.

I have no tattoos, but when Miyamoto dies, I may get one of that fat little plumber.

Never got past the first 10 mins on the W3. No reason why, just wasn't anything that drew me in to keep playing it. I've had it on steam for years.

We got Witcher 4 coming and they switched to the Unreal 5 Engine. If they learned their lessons, Witcher 4 will be a banger.

Not a matter of learning their lesson, I think they're just incompetent now. Many of the people who worked on W3 aren't there anymore. Seems like they just replaced them with a bunch of diversity hires.

True, but they should have some understanding of the Witcher universe.

That's wild. Having a kid and watching him play video games must create a whole other level of nostalgia. We're like the first gen to be able to truly have that experience. Games have the ability to bring you into a world created in some artist's mind, and interact with it in ways that stay with you throughout life. Then to watch your own kid experience it, knowing the feels they'll get later must be a trip.

It’s true. That first play through was absolute magic. There’s so many games that I wish I could erase from my memory to experience them for the first time again.

Old dummy gamer here, Tie Fighter is the game I most want to recapture. The W3 is a great game, the good ones are like a drug.
