Gonna finally upgrade to the new gen just not sure if playstation or xbox.

I have a xbox now but I don't play on the tv much (kids). So I stream to my laptop using the xbox app. Can you still do this with the new gen and can ps5 do this as well? rep for awnsers.

Xbox has by far the best and most accessible services for that. If you want to be doing that sort of thing, you don't want a Playstation.

I'm a sonycel, but I think it just makes sense to stick to the same company especially if you have digital purchases made on the stores.

Also if you are a FPScel and play nothing else, then it would seem like Xbox is the obvious choice if you enjoy shooters.

If he keeps his old Xbox and gets a PS5 he still has his old library and is now open to a world of new games. I just had the best year of gaming in my life by getting to play the latest PS games and I'm still heavily behind in my backlog.

Yeah this is a very reasonable take. There is nothing that the PS5 really has to offer over a PS4 if you are curious about Sony exclusive titles besides the Demon's Souls remake and Returnal, if those two games are somehow a big deal to you.

That would clearly be Xbox as he could still have access to the digital library he already built up while having vastly improved performance and next gen capabilities.

OP has no real reason to go for Sony in his situation.

I think my fave next gen capabilities have been 60 fps graphics, dualsense haptics and blazing fast loading times, none of which are on the xbox.

Weird, because Xbox Series X is known for FPS boost, which makes a large number of 360 and One titles run at a smooth 60fps. I also have no problem playing all of my favorite games like Forza Horizon 5, Flight Similator, and Halo Infinite at 60fps, none of which are available on PS5. Heck I can play a lot of games at 120fps if I wanted to, but there's only a handful of titles I got where I prefer that.

Loading times, I own both a PS5 and Series X, and they are nearly identical. By the time you are trying to make a big deal about a miniscule fraction of a second, I think you lost anything to complain about.

Dualsense haptics? I mean I guess that's a feature, but it's really not that big of a deal depending upon the kind of games someone plays. The biggest dualsense genres has been FPS and racing games in my experience, and Xbox recently came out with a much better racing game controller thanks to Thrustmaster, so I guess that narrows it down to FPS, and there it just comes down to some gimmicky trigger feel feature.

So yeah. OP is much better off just getting a Series X and keeping access to his existing library, where many titles he already owns will probably be enhanced with 60fps. Especially considering how he values streaming, which Microsoft is vastly superior at.

Being able to run old and previous gen games at higher frames isn't enough. New titles with modern graphics can't do 60fps on the Series X sadly.

I play no shortage of new games on my Series X that run at 60fps, most of the time for free thanks to GamePass being the GOAT gaming service. Heck most of them have optional 120fps modes.

might look good but the performance is dogchit as soon as you introduce some cityscapes and clouds. Xbox just doesnt have the horsepower to run a sim game
