The pickleball epidemic is exactly what is wrong with the world today!

I live near a public park that opened up probably 20 years ago. The usual park stuff, kids areas, 2 full basketball courts and 2 tennis courts. I walk my dogs through there almost every day and i drive past it several times a day. Most weekdays the tennis courts were pretty empty. Every once in a while you might see someone getting a lesson. There was a group of dudes there every Sunday morning who would play a few hours. A few other random groups would play over the weekend. A couple years ago they closed the tennis courts down and it looked like they were going away. Instead a few months later they opened it back up as 6 pickleball courts. Pretty quickly got more and more people “playing”. The past several months all courts are full from about 6AM all the way until they shut the lights off at 9 or 10pm every day of the week. So a game that requires running back and forth 10 feet to hit a tennis ball, nobody has the energy to play. But a game where you can just stand there and swat a ball with a paddle that requires as much exercise as the Nintendo Wii, all of sudden everyone is hooked. Its probably their glandular problem making them obese.

I doubt any of these people would fish or hunt. They look more like officecels playing before and after work etc.

Three and half years ago, I decided to go check out this thing called Pickleball. Within minutes of playing, I was hooked.

Since then I went and earned my PPR Instructor Certification. Teaching pickleball has combined my two passions of teaching and playing pickleball.

I have been doing lessons for 9 months now. I recently retired and I am now fully dedicated to sharing the fastest growing social, fun sport, Pickleball, with as many people as I can.

Better than black people playing basketball nearby.

Never heard of a shootout at a pickleball game.

I play tennis and pickleball is an epidemic.

It is a "sport" with a very low skill set requirement and an even lower fitness level to play. Hence why it's so popular in soft and fat America.

Phuck you ******* pickleball is fun as hell. It gives boomers something to do and keeps them active when they are at an age when most sports would be too difficult to play. Also gets them interacted with people instead of fox news

Wow no chit you dont find it interesting, do you find a bingo hall interesting as well? Its not meant for you.

Pickleball at least makes use of the courts that previously were empty (Im a tennis player and can admit no one plays phucking tennis anymore).

Also, pickleball is fun. Its not a workout substitute if you are young but who gives a chit.

the small town (5k) i lived in converted the basketball court to pickleball because the people coming to play basketball were too much trouble...fighting...pulling guns, vandalizing. on any given day during warmer months there could be 40-50 hoodlums at a court with two goals.

OP where do you live?

The exact same thing happened at the tennis courts in my pops neighborhood

Any time of the day you pass the place is completely filled with cars parallel parked on each side

There's always so many people there it looks like some sort of event is going on but nope, just pickle ball...

Youngcels do it.... Yeah it's a pretty soft game, but not as bad as sitting on your computer alone all day and night developing crushing depression & anxiety lmfao.

I'd be pissed if I lived next to a court, the ball/paddle is loud. Also the players get fired up and yell like crazy lol.

But overall, it's cool to see Americans move their fat ass for the first time in 40 years.

i play pickleball and its fun. The issue with tennis is most people suck at it and so getting anyone to play is hard. Pickleball is much easier for the average person to pick up and play, but there's still ways to be extremely skillful at it. So now i get to play the occasional competitive match AND also some casual matches with friends who aren't great, but i can at least play and volley with.

Tennis you can only do competitive. Anyone i had play casual were just so bad the whole time it's just me chasing balls hit extremely far out of bounds and no volleys.

I think you had a pickleball thread this morning that I missed but I worry it will drive off tennis as so many tennis courts are being converted to pickleball courts.

I can't even try pickleball now as my back is bad after hauling luggage in Europe but I really want to try it as it may be easier on my back than tennis, but I still want to play tennis again after I lose weight.

Man I would love to do stuff like that. I never had any friends that were into sports. I’d usually go play basketball at the local courts but they got pretty dangerous. I saw someone make a comment about blacks shooting at the courts and it was a little rough at one time but now yes it’s bad. They have some super nice parks in Tennessee and what’s weird is there’s a lot of blacks that may there and it’s peaceful. Huge soccer and football fields. I’d never have left if I lived around that growing up. I think a main reason I started drinking and smoking growing up is because I couldn’t find anyone to do stuff like that with. They actually have a basketball court in a gym here and soneone actually got shot and killed on it. Stupid

Been saying it for years. srs.

Made this post back in 2022 when it started becoming popular:

Thinking of joining local pickleball club so I can bean boomers

If pickleball hasn't invaded your area yet, it will soon.

TL;DR It's a "sport" that boomers are obsessing over. It's basically fat/old person tennis.

Thinking of joining a local club just so I can bean those geriatric pricks. People usually treat it casually, but I'm going Billy Madison dodgeball style. 100% hits every single time straight at the domes of those wrinkly nut fukkers.

That's my concern as I've been driving by public tennis courts and half of the courts are now converted to pickleball courts.

At my tennis club they took over 1 court and the tennis members were pissed as pickleball is really loud.
