Never necessary. But I think the general rule is that between 35-40 you will start the descent whereby maintaining muscle mass naturally becomes harder and harder. I guess it differs for the individual.

I think if you actually eat right and take care of yourself and avoid drugs and smoking and drinking then you will be able to age well to 50 or so before you need TRT

Don't get hung up on age. (ng/dL) level is the only thing that matters. 300 and under is when you need to go see a doc.
