What can Christians have as hobbies? (Srs)

Since no one answered my question in the prior thread even the Christians.

What exactly is allowed as a hobby? What I got from it, was any activity that was created by a non-Christian is Satanic. So that means no entertainment is allowed basically and no hobbies are acceptable, but drinking is OK (uh huh).

The only thing that seemed OK was going online to find obscure websites.

So my question is what exactly do you Christians or any Christians do as hobbies? My MIL even says hanging out on Christmas together is Satanic, so does that mean you can't hang out with family and friends?

What I'm wondering though is that all that stuff was made by pagans at some point in time (even those licenses). So it's Satanic by default and not able to be participated in if you want to be a Christian.

Or I guess what I'm trying to ask, is it OK to participate in non-Christian activities (Christian have stated all non-Christian activities are Satanic by definition), and still be a Christian?

What I mostly got from it by looking online at other sources and forums was that hobbies take away time from celebrating God and therefore are not allowed. I'm not sure if that is correct, but that's what I basically got.

The biggest mind boggler that I have stumbled upon was that Pokemon is too satanic to play (srs not trolling), but drinking is A-OK. Problem is I don't drink, and have difficulty understanding how drinking is considered a Christian activity (it can be handwaved by saying Jesus turns water into wine), but playing a game is not Christian?

The point of Christianity is to forgive people and ask forgiveness. Actively loving your fellow man. Now take that attitude and go do whatever hobby you want, painting warhammer models, lifting weights, jogging. Whatever
Ecclesiastes 3:8 A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.

That's what I thought too before yesterday, but I created a thread and basically it amounted to anything that is not inherently Christian is Satanic. So for example, no TV, no Video games, no anime. All are considered Satanic because non-Christians created those activities.

Would the internet even be allowed to be used by Christians? Since it was probably a non-Christian who created it. Hanging out with family is Satanic under certain circumstances even though no Satanism is being celebrated. E.g. Christmas and other holidays like Thanksgiving.

You can have pretty much any hobby that isn't sinful (no watching porn, being drunk, anything self-serving that does NOT glorify God).

I mountain bike, but I thank God for the skills, resources (money to do my hobby), and I am a steward of my body that God knit for me in my mother's womb so I like to keep myself healthy. Thus I glorify and give thanks to God for allowing me to enjoy the gifts he's given my by his grace.

I do not take the credit that I enjoy my hobbies. I thank God for all my blessings by His grace and mercy first and foremost.

It is God who has given you the gifts (internal and external) to enjoy your life on Earth. You have the freewill to either honor Him or not.

Yes, you can have alcohol. I mean, Jesus DID turn water into wine for his mom's request at the wedding at Cana. Just don't drink to excess. Then you lose your will to alcohol, and away from God's will.

You can hang out, just don't go robbing people on the highway and leave them for dead, etc.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

to defend Christians, i don't think most of these activities are inherently Satanic in and of itself. not sure which christians state all non-christian activities are Satanic. for example something like Halloween would be considered pagan/satanic. ironically Christmas is as well and modern day Christianity has pagan influences. Christmas was celebrated due to political reasons to appease pagans but Christians had to cope by saying this was when Jesus was born.

for example, there are certain rituals, animism and witchcraft practiced in past ages in which its purpose was to invoke demons, spirits, ghosts, souls etc. whether you believe these things exist is another argument. but would be considered Satanic. or activities/symbolism that involve depictions of the devil or could have the potential of invoking these curses. Christianity isn't the only religion. Islam also believes in Satan, spirits (djinn), black magic and that there are certain ways that these can be invoked and black magic can be cast (dedsrs).

another example, you wouldn't hang symbols on your wall depicting Satan on your wall. The logical step from that is that you wouldn't watch shows or movies that contain depictions/symbolism.

btw i don't necessarily endorse all of these beliefs, just explaining it.

That one I don't completely get either. Like for example, I get Doom is on a moonbase, demons get spawned to kill you, and you eventually enter hell to kill off more demons.

But these symbols would make sense wouldn't they? You are in hell killing demons, but per my MIL any Satanic symbols make it inherently Satanic. E.g. excuse the gay reddit post, but this is basically how my MIL thinks, and the people she visits on her obscure sites.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Doom/commen...ne_to_convert/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Doom/commen...ugh_my_mother/

But on the other hand, Neon Genesis Evangelion has barely a blip on the Christian community even though there is a bunch of Christian lingo and symbols thrown around in it, probably because these obscure sites don't really deep dive into other cultures or entertainment.

Or I keep me mentioning this dude Steve Quayle because my MIL is obsessed with him. She says that he has predicted the end of the world soon and to get ready for tribulation, but at the same time, he is selling a DVD on Nephilim and a book on Nazis in Antarctica. These obscure sites just make it seem like these "hardcore Christians" are just scammers.

Like this new product that has popped recently in her searches online is called an EMPshield. All the reviews online say it's not a scam(!) So I guess you can figure out where that goes. It bother me that so many "Christian" want the end times to happen.

Depends on which type of Christian... I'm Catholic, which basically means I can do whatever the f/ck I want, and then confess my sins once every decade and the Priest will absolve all of my transgressions... and then I'm free to sin again....

I'm a Christian so I'll answer with what I do. I play basketball, run, lift, play guitar, play Fromsoft vidya games and hang out with friends. It isn't as restrictive as you think. You can even drink if you want to. Nothing wrong with it as long as you can practice a little self control and not get to the point where you make a fool of yourself and puke everywhere

Despite this obvious trolling, there is nothing even remotely true about the "created by satanic blah blah blah."

True Christianity is about having a personal relationship with Christ and doing your best to follow what He teaches us through His written word, the Bible. It isn't about going to a building every Sunday, flogging yourself, etc.

Obviously porn, violent/gore stuff (video games, vids, etc) and other obviously evil things that go against God are off limits. Otherwise, you go about your life trying to be the salt and light of the world, setting an example for lost people that don't understand why you are the way you are and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them so they too can know the true God of the universe.

The most unfortunate part is that there are many that claim to be followers of the only Living God but think it gives them a license to do whatever they want. Non-Christians see them doing this and paint all Christians as that way.

On the flip side, nobody is perfect and all Christians are still sinners. The difference is that we have been justified before God. True believers' hearts are pricked by their sins leading them to seek God in repentance (<-- means turning 180* from the sin) and get back on the narrow path.

Cliffs: all hobbies that aren't actual evil (see above - porn, witchcraft, etc) were created by God for us to enjoy. We just always find a way to corrupt it. The main thing is keeping God as #1 in your heart, communing with Him daily through prayer and reading scripture and spreading the Gospel far and wide so that those with ears to hear and eyes to see will seek Him.

Something made by a non-Christian can still be enjoyed by Christians. Where in the Bible does it say otherwise? Ignore onerous rules created by legalists seeking to enforce their conscience on you.
