Being American, I pretty much only get US news. Being from Texas, I'm keenly aware of the Mexicans coming up through the border. I watched the newest episode of Ted Lasso last night, and refugees were part of the plot. I looked it up afterwards, and the UK has a couple hundred thousand refugees from Iran, Eritrea, Syria, and a couple other countries every year. Had no idea. It was recently deemed illegal, causing similar pushback to what we see here. Pretty interesting to see other countries have immigration problems. It's interesting as well that none of those are are attached to the UK. Eritrea is in North East Africa.

Thing is there is no excuse for them to be making it to the UK. It's an island.

What happens is they get to France then the French escort rubber dinghys to UK waters where the UK border force take over and escort them the rest of the way. Then they get housed in 4 star hotels and given weekly allowances.
