US Woman who wrote a Book On Grief After Husband's Death Charged With His Murder

A widow from Utah who wrote a children's book about grief, after the sudden death of her husband, was arrested on Monday on charges of murdering her spouse.

According to a KUTV report, Kouri Darden Richins, 33, of Summit County, was arrested Monday for allegedly poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, at their home on Willow Court in Kamas on March 4, 2022. The mother of three is facing a first-degree aggravated murder charge. The woman has also three second-degree felony charges of possessing a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, officials said.

In March 2022, Ms Richins called the police late one night and said her husband, Eric Richins, was "cold to the touch". The police arrived at their home at about 3:20 am on the night of Eric's death to find him lying at the foot of the bed. "Life-saving measures were attempted, but Eric was declared deceased," according to documents cited by KSL-TV.

She told the officials thatshe had made her husband a mixed vodka drink before finding him unresponsive hours later. Amedical examiner later found Mr Richins died from a ******** overdose.

The medical examiner said that Mr Richins had five times the lethal dosage of the drug in his system.

According to court documents, between December 2021 and February 2022,Ms Richins had texted a person who was arrested on drug charges asking for prescription pain medication for an investor with a back injury.

The court documents further revealed that Ms Richins got hydrocodone pills and she later requested something stronger.

After three days, Ms Richins obtained the drugs and the couple had a Valentine's Day dinner, after which he fell sick.

After two weeks, Ms Richins obtained more ********. On March 4, Ms Richins called the police late at night and complained that her husband was unresponsive.

Ms Richins also wrote a picture book "Are You With Me?" to help children cope with the death of a loved one.

In an interview with KPCW,the woman said that the book was to bring peace to her and her three children. "We wrote this book and we're really hoping that it provides some comfort for not just obviously, our family, but other families that are going through the same thing," she said in an interview last month.

A detention hearing is scheduled on 19 May.

Women get away with murder a lot. Many times they just manipulate some miscer to do the dirty deed. Glad to see this one got caught. I hope she serves real time and not a usual female's sentence which is ridiculous sometimes.

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Update:Moscow Mule victim's 'killer wife' thought she would get $3.6million after his death – but he quietly changed his will because he feared she planned to 'kill him for the money', shocking documents reveal

Now, court documents exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, have laid bare the twisted legal battle Kouri, 34, launched against her husband's family within weeks of his death in a bid to secure an estate valued in excess of $3.6million.

In a lawsuit disputing her late husband's will, Kouri not only claimed that the money is rightfully hers but accused Eric of trying to 'defraud' her by taking legal action to shield his property and business from her without her knowledge.

Kouri made her allegations in a claim against the living trust that Eric drew up without informing her in November 2020.

According to the police warrant, at the time, Richins had expressed a fear that his wife might 'kill him for the money'.

Unknown to Kourihe transferred the family home, all personal property and his interest in the masonry business he ran with friend and partner, Cody Wright, into the Trust which he then placed in the sole control of the older of his two sisters, Katie Richins-Benson, 38.

But as far as Kouri was aware, his estate was to be divided according to the terms of the couple's prenuptial agreement which Eric's late mother, Linda, presented to her on the very day of their wedding.

The document was signed along with the wedding certificate on June 15, 2013, and under its terms, on Eric's death, pretty much everything would pass seamlessly to Kouri.
