Why is it the only boomers who use excuses about 'knee pain', 'back pain', etc...

why is it the only boomers who use these excuses to prevent them from being active, were never really active to begin with? All the old farts I know that are 50+ and have these mysterious pains that prevents them from playing golf, hiking, playing tennis, even pickleball, etc. never were in shape to begin with and now use this as an excuse to stay that way.

Yet last week I was backpacking through a national park and met two 70+ year olds doing a 8 mile hike.

What gives?

You cant use outliers as the average.
Most people are inactive with Netflix, phones, and a stay at home lifestyles.
When you start young, sometimes it continues for a lifetime.

I have friends in their 30s who are overweight and sedintary and cant do things that fit 65 year olds can.

It's sad that there is so much to life that you will miss out on by not being fit and active. I also am in some cycling groups locally and it's a huge rich boomer sport. Again, there are people in their 60s and 70s+ doing 25 mile bike rides several times a week (of course they are usually thin or fit). If you stick with it you can do a ton as you age.

IMO your tour really isnt over until yours 70s and 80s. If you are active, you can still do almost anything at 50 and 60 as you could at 30. Maybe not to the same ability, but you can still do a lot

LMFAO....

Bruh , getting old isnt for pussies. All I can tell you that these "Mysterious Injuries" you're mocking right now are legit. One day you'll wake up with shoulder pain for no fkng good reason at all that haunts you for months...You'll laugh wrong and next thing you know you are hitting the floor with back pain.

Now lets not get it fkd up... I still feel like a lot of those type of "Old man injuries" stem from inactivity , Or.... even if you think you stay active its probably not enough.. .

Personally , I 100% know I need to be doing more cardio...And not just for fat loss... its just to keep things moving that don't get used sitting at a desk.

Have a lot of phantom pain stuff that I deal with personally. People underestimate the ability for the mind to project and control pain receptors.

But i believe the real reason is that we experience injuries at a certain time in the scientific development cycle. There may or may not be a solution that is viable long term to correct that injury. If there isnt, we just have residual pain that we must deal with. If there is, we solve the problem, only to found out years later that wasn't the correct path.

Examples:
1. Tore my hamstring off the bone, Surgical option only just became available in the last 5 years and the injury happened 10 years ago. I wouldn't have even been aware there was an option if a friend didn't have the same exact injury in March.

2.Tore my labrum in a SLAP tear, surgical solution isnt particularly helpful for my lifestyle, have some residual pain from it

3. Tore my ACL MCL PCL and Meniscus, and the surgical solution was a hamstring graft - Which would later cause my hamstring tear, and wouldnt be the best solution for the knee anyway, causing knee pain

4. Shattered my knuckle when I was 16, caused early onset arthritis.

The lesson here though is to stay in shape and stay mobile. Most of these dont really bother me unless I'm being a piece of **** and let my flexibility/strength/health slide.

Not a boomer, but you really want us to point out the obvious reality of how weak Zoomers are??? Trying to portray them as physically fit?

100% agree.

These are my "peers" I suppose and I cant stand it.

Probably why I dont hang around them much if at all. You are correct in that they just want to rot away most times and any excuse to do it they will cling on to. Sure, your muscles will be sore when you start working out, that happens at any age. You just deal with it and figure it out.

The generation above had way better diets and more active lifestyles.
Those below haven’t been hit yet with the same things boomers are going through due to the age difference.

Boomers had lower quality foods, processed foods, trans fats, more drinking culture, processed sugars, and fake foods were introduced in their lifetimes. They also had cars and stationary lives ect.

so many people are okay accepting age as an excuse to become physically dormant long before their bodies actually do start to deteriorate, it literally manifests like a self fulfilling prophesy.

I know so many people that have prevented themselves from having that mindset, and they are spectacles of human performance for their age.

Nothing abnormally special, but it seems they have super powers because of how easy most people give up.

It is a mindset.

Do not fall into the trap.

It is the lazy and easy way out.

Think people use age and the family/ work as an excuse. I get it if you’re married with kids then you probably don’t care about PRs and sub 12% body fat

But holy phuck you are an absolute cuck of a man if you give your employer 8 hours+ a day yet can’t find an hour to give yourself for exercise

Well, also, when it comes to your workouts, you want to stimulate, not annihilate. If you want to have a David Goggins like mentality, and start doing marathons and ultra marathons, or lift beyond the point of failure, you're gonna be in a ton of pain in your 40s, 50s and 60s.

Gotta warm up properly and focus hard on form in your 30's. I'm 32 now and going too heavy and breaking form leads to bad days.

When I was early 20's I felt like nothing could break me and I was throwing weights with piss poor execution and I was fine. If I do that now I'd probably gonna go need to visit a chiropractor at minimum and back surgery at worst.

Better safe than sorry m8

I am 64. Not an older boomer. We had home cooked meals made from scratch as my parents did. We walked or rode a bike. Didn't even have a McDonald's til I was 17 and even then we never ate there.

We rarely ate processed foods. Every other generation after me ate way more.

Drinking culture was more a late 89's - 90's thing.

Stationary lives not a chance.

most of the ones I know that complain of problems like that have a lot of comorbidities like obesity, diabetes, etc so they probably just don't take care of themselves in general.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.

They probably DO have these pains, but because of a crappy diet and exercise regime - on top of smoking, drinking, etc.

Our age group did a lot of drugs. We also didn’t have the internet or anything. Most fridays-Sunday most people drank all weekend while smoking dope and ate whatever. Most people I know my age are fat bald and doubt can even get hard.
