My old boss was a D-1 basketball player turned engineering manager. He got his first manager job at like 30, cause he was a tall aesthetic confident Chad, but could never progress beyond frontline manager because he was super autistic and had no filter.
Dude walked into a meeting 45 minutes late once and told the room. "Sorry guys, I've been on the phone with Citi Bank. My daughter's a druggie and she gave her boyfriend the password to her bank account, so I'm trying to get a bunch of charges reversed"
Dude would call out nice asses of chicks he saw in public.
Dude once just stood in front of a room, waiting for a meeting to start, and said out of the blue. "You know what golf stands for? Gentlemen only, ladies forbidden."
He ended up getting his team destroyed by a rather underhanded ****** who pinned the blame for a major engineering failure on his team, and he wasn't politically adept enough to get out of it. ****** took his headcount, and he went from 6 reports to 0 reports.
