The most obvious one is to stop buying brand new chit... Especially toys.

The sales tax alone when you're buying something valued at $5k+ makes it worth it to buy used. So many people selling chit they never even used, just left in a garage for 2 years.... You come in and buy it 40% off.

OP, here's a great hack which saves money. It's not having to pay for rent by moving in for free into the heads of misc's non-lifting frauds.

On a more serious note, here some actual hacks:

- Taking coffee sachets into work instead of buying barista made coffee. I saved like $200 a fortnight with this alone.

- Using e-bikes instead of car if you live in a city or suburban area.

- Make lunches with ingredients you can buy in bulk (tuna, chicken, steaks/beef etc.)

- Youtube videos for things you might ordinarily need a pro for (like changing something in your car)

- Instead of paying for multiple stream services, have one friend each subscribe to a service, and all share the passwords between yourselves.

- Look into Aldi for phone service provider instead of a major telco network.

- Shop at Aldi, period.

- For washing, if you don't have a really big load just throw the items in a bucket of hot water and throw in some powder. Squish around for a bit, rinse out, hang up. Saves the price of running a load.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

For me personally: taking Dutasteride to save my hair.

Dutasteride has essentially nuked my DHT that I now have ZERO sex drive, which means I'm spending a lot less money at the local rub-and-tug massage parlors. I used to go about 3x per week, but now I'm going at most twice a month.

Also, WFH... I save so much money from not commuting.

If you can get a WFH job, you're basically set.

Not having car notes has been massive for me as well. I've never held a car note over $16K and never taken more than 2 years to pay it off. I've been free of car notes for like 5 of the 7 years I've been married while many of my married friends have been spending $500-1000 per month on notes most of their adult lives. That **** adds up.

Also, cutting your own hair.

Hyperinflation has haircuts at $30/cut now. Too much. Especially if you do your haircut every 3 weeks or so.

They're not really'hacks'but a few that come to mind:

Buying things on sale
Buying meat in bulk and freezing
Not dining out and making all my meals fresh
Doing/accomplishing many tasks around the house myself

100% this. I barely know what that stuff is. Only thing I've ever ordered is pizza. If I'm thinking of some lazy kunt who's lying around his house too lazy to cook a quality meal and clicks a photo of disgusting schit on his phone and has some dirty guy deliver it to his home, that's peak rotmaxxing behaviour. Blows my mind.

If you have to buy a major appliance, buy one from an estate auction not a big box store. Washer, dryer, fridge, stove. That's how I put appliances in my rental properties. $100-$150 is the average price I pay for one of those 4 appliances.

Set up a simple home gym (save a lot of gas and price of membership), don’t order from food delivery services, spend the money on a quality coffee maker(preferably with a built-in burr grinder) that will last for many years and bulk beans, walk to places if you can, go over every streaming service you pay for and cancel those you don’t use daily, cancel cable if you have it, pay for an all in one service like fubotv if you enjoy watching multiple sports plus movies, do your own landscaping if you own your house, learn to maintain your house yourself so you don’t have to hire professionals, don’t finance purchases unless in an emergency (interest rates steal your money), spend your free time bettering yourself so you can increase your income, etc. Honestly, this is all very basic but will save you a lot of money over time.

I don't know what ever made people think adding a legit 3rd party business to the equation of buying food from restaurants was going to be an economically sound idea.

The home gym bit is a farce. Even the simplest of home gyms - a barbell, a few hundred pounds in weights, an adjustable bench, adjustable dumbbells, a simple squat rack, and ancillary things like collars, weight tree, and floor mats - will run you north of $1,000, maybe more, and limits you in terms of available exercises. You can get years of gym membership out of that.

If you want a legit home gym, you will probably spend closer to $3,000, that ain't it mane when you're talking about saving money.

For me, it's that I need to stop buying so much food at gas stations. It's just so insanely convenient nowadays, a lot of them are like legit mini-marts nowadays.

But with that convenience, comes a price. No, it's not $30+ to get one meal like it is ordering from some 3rd party ap to deliver restaurant food to you, but it's still stupidly easy to wind up paying like $10 - $15 for basically double the most it would be to buy the stuff in bulk at a grocery store. It adds up fast.

Even those stops are so bad, I just don't get how so many people see no issue with dropping even more $ on Uber Eats/Door Dash/etc. I mean, you literally can't get more than about 4 meal runs out of that for less than $100. That's fkn ridiculous.

I like to get new insurance quotes at least every few years. The key is not to just go cheaper, but only go cheaper if it's the same coverage you still want and need.

I put water saving faucets and shower heads in my house. Not only does this save water, but it saves hot water and natural gas for the heater. I can pretty much shower at the same time as a couple of my kids and we all have enough hot water now.

This isn't really saving money as much as just getting some back, but I only use rewards credit cards to pay for everything and then I just pay the bill every month and never have interest.

Get a cheap prepaid mobile plan. I use Visible, but Mint Mobile is also good. If you want real cheap, you can build a plan with Tello.
