Misc, help me plan a trip.
I have friends who live in Vienna and have invited me to attend an event with them there in the very beginning of September. I am obviously not flying all the way to Austria just for the weekend. They suggested I make the event with them the end of my trip so I'm trying to decide what to do for the week or so before that (last week in August).
Flights within Europe are fairly quick and inexpensive once you're over there, and there is the train option as well, so I am open to going pretty much anywhere that's good. Considered Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Prague, and had some other ideas as well. Anyone have suggestions? For reference, I am a relatively newly single guy and expect to be making the trip solo.

Depends on how much of your time you want to spend traveling vs. actually enjoying the free time off in a place of beauty. I just did a week long solo trip from Vegas to national parks in Utah and back. It was amazing, but I'm glad I didn't drive more than I did.
So if it were me, and I'm in Europe deciding on places to go, I would just choose maybe 3 places total to spend a few days in each to explore.
So Vienna, Austria is one. The other two I would choose places that aren't super far. Croatia and Italy would be my two choices from that point. Both of those flights are only a little over 1 hour in length, and both countries have amazing scenery.
Dublin to Vienna is almost 3 hours of flight time let alone the airport dealings. Norway is probably similar. Prague is probably the closest so would be awesome too.
But if you can go a little longer than a week then the travel isn't that big of a deal and you could pick wherever really. I guess it helps Vienna is in a solid spot. I just think if you have 7 days, I would not want to travel too much while I'm in Europe, especially after that flight too Europe from the US.

damn! mirin' hard m8.
i've only been on the england and deutsche bahn train system, and they ran like clockwork. it gives you a bit of time to look outside and see the country. the buses were also pretty straight forward in the big cities of europe
have you thought about hiring a car and doing a road trip by yourself? gives you more freedom to do the things you want to
you could also do a short trip with tour companies if driving is not an option, plus they may take you to places you didn't know about and there would be other people on tour you could hang out with
hostels can be good for accommodation if you don't mind the communal stuff and general noise

Ask chatgpt. Srs. Input your timeline, what you like to do and it will create an itinerary. You can even ask for daily itinerary within a certain radius of your hotel if you justwant to walk.
Would recommend Oktoberfest in Munich if the timing is right.

Decided on my route and booked everything. It's going to be Ibiza, then Prague, then Vienna. Excited.
