Do old threads disappear? (Srs question)

Do old threads disappear? (Srs question)
I don't get it, do old threads go away after awhile? I remember seeing my old Accounting Master Race thread (even the other one pre-dating mine) and other funny ones about cringe threads and other college degree stuff, but I can't find any of them now.
Do they just get deleted overtime. I think many were pre-2016. I try using the search bar, but it brings up nothing.
I know that misc hasn't been searchable from Google for a while, so it makes it even more difficult.

A lot gets deleted but there are still plenty of old threads around. Always best to subscribe to threads you don't want to lose, but if you get banned it wipes out all your subscribed threads for some reason.

Supposedly those threads are still there but no longer accessible. Makes no sense at all. I have better luck finding old threads through google than I do with the forums search funtion.
