Are you looking forward to the movie Oppenheimer?

Release date July 21, 2023

It's called Oppenheimer but it's as much a story about The Manhattan Project, which was the US's WWII effort to make the nuclear bomb, leading to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Yea Hollywood never bothers to spend the $20 needed to consult physicists. I'd imagine the demon core situation will be covered. Might also cover Feynman's dying wife. There was a lot of drama around the project.

this movie is basically the jewish actor woodstock (Srs). its got a HUGE cast.

majority of the manhattan project scientists were jews (including oppenheimer himself). they casted a bunch of the most stereotypical typecast jew actors for this. if you were a very jewish looking actor and ARENT in this movie, your agent failed you.

No. Any time they make a movie about real life events, they fk stuff up.

That isn't normally too big an issue, but I know the history well enough that I won't be able to ignore the "artistic license" and outright lies/mistakes.

I'll watch if it shows scenes after they dropped the nuke:

They had once been human. When the sky exploded, they’d had the misfortune to survive. Faces turned to the blast, the skin had been seared from their skulls; leaving only a black, leathery substance without eyes or features. All that remained was a red hole where their mouths had once been. They staggered about the outskirts of Hiroshima, avoided by other survivors – but the real horror was the sound they made. According to Pellegrino:

“The alligator people did not scream. Their mouths could not form the sounds. The noise they made was worse than screaming. They uttered a continuous murmur — like locusts on a midsummer night. One man, staggering on charred stumps of legs, was carrying a dead baby upside down.”

None of them survived for long. In most modern accounts of the bombing they’re noticeably absent. But the alligator people are a reminder of the human cost of our victory in the War – one we should never allow ourselves to forget.

japan absolutely deserved the nuke. it was gracious we didnt drop more

we also saved millions by not invading kyushu and turning what happened to okinawa to the entire japanese mainland. read up about okinawa, that the true horror of ww2 (and would have been repeated on an entirely larger scale had we invaded).

We also should have hung the emperor, but I digress

Agreed, especially after reading about Unit 731 or whatever its called. The Japs are on a whole other level of disturbing. The nukes have kept them in check ever since. They've turned into low test weeaboos and rightly so, they're safe and harmless that way

Fun fact: Jews weren't allowed in Oak Ridge at all. No landlording, no manipulating retail markets, no predatory lending, nada. No one was allowed to fukk with the workers. Whenever a jew showed up, the cops told him to gtfo and never come back or gave him a free ride to the next town.

The result was the most efficient work force in US history, at a time when most workers were already in the military. They built massive nuclear facilities in under a year. And also the maternity ward at the hospital had to be expanded multiple times srs.
